Jordan Mickey is on the brink of announcing his college decision.
“Our goal is to have it done by the end of the week,” his father, James Wright, told SNY.tv Wednesday, adding that an announcement could come “possibly [Thursday] or hopefully before the weekend.”
The 6-foot-9 forward out of Arlington (Texas) Grace Prep is down to SMU, LSU, Oklahoma State and Ohio State, and James said it was a very tough decision.
“When you narrow it down and you have to say no to the coaches, it’s really hard,” he said. “We’re still deliberating.”
SMU head coach Larry Brown was in the home Tuesday night for a home visit.
“SMU has definitely got a chance,” James said. “They are making a hard push.”
He added: “LSU is coming to practice today [Wednesday]. We had Ohio State down last weekend at practice. Oklahoma State came down last week for a practice. We did an official at Oklahoma State this past weekend. We did an official there. It went really great.”
James said they believe that Ohio State and Oklahoma State are capable of winning now, while SMU and LSU are “rebuilding” but could be in a position to win soon.
“It’s just difficult,” he said. “You got four great coaches. I would say two programs are trying to win, and two are in the rebuilding process.”
