Julius Randle will visit Kentucky Sept. 15, his AAU coach, Scott Pospichal confirmed to SNY.tv on Wednesday.
“He’s got two visits set up so far, Kentucky and Florida [Oct. 5],” Pospichal said by phone.
The Sept. 15 Kentucky visit, first reported by Scout.com, will occur when the Wildcats play their NBA alumni in a charity game.
“Kentucky’s all over him. I mean, why not?” Pospichal said.
“I mean, come on. Of course it’s appealing. If you’re making a business decision, you really have to pay attention to them.”
The 6-foot-9 Randle recently cut his list to 10 schools and said he will announce in the spring. He reportedly has nine in-home visits scheduled, beginning with N.C. STate and Kentucky Sept. 9.
“What [John] Calipari’s been able to do the last year, it’s like he came up with the recipe for Gatorade,” Pospichal said. “What he’s done the last two years is spectacular. Give him credit for what he’s done. The University of Kentucky deserves it.”
Still, he pointed out that Randle will be a major talent no matter where he goes.
“Do you think if he goes somewhere else other than Kentucky, do you think it’s going to really hurt him?” he asked.
“If Jabari Parker goes and plays at Yale or Stanford instead of Kentucky or Duke, does it really matter? Those kids are special kids.”
Along those lines, Pospichal said he expected Randle to visit several other major powers at some point, too.
“I’d be shocked if he didn’t go visit Duke or North Carolina or a Kansas,” he said.
“Baylor has done an unbelievable job recruiting him. They just do an incredible job recruiting him.”
He added: “Julius came out with his Top 10. One thing I know about Julius, he’s going to be fair to everybody.”
