Seton Hall-bound guard Aquille Carr was arrested Friday morning on a domestic assault charge in Baltimore, according to the Baltimore Sun.
Carr reportedly pushed his former girlfriend, 26-year-old Treshonda Williams, to the ground and then punched and kicked her. Williams is the mother of Carr’s five-month-old daughter, Averi.
According to the Sun: “According to court records, Williams was inside the All-State Career School in the 2200 block of Broening Highway at about 11 a.m. on Aug. 14 and was receiving phone calls and text messages from Carr.
“Ms. Williams advised Mr. Carr that she does not wish to be with him anymore, and she told Mr. Carr that the relationship was over,” an officer wrote in charging documents.
Williams said that Carr asked to speak with her outside the school, and she went outside. An argument erupted, and she said Carr grabbed her by her shirt, and threw her to the ground. He then is accused of kicking her in the back, and punching her in the head and face before fleeing in his vehicle, according to records.
The responding officer said Williams did not have visible injuries and refused medical attention, but complained of strong pain to her left arm and said she was unable to move it. A photograph of her face was taken as evidence, records show.
The 5-foot-7 Carr — nicknamed “The Crime Stopper” — has verbally pledged to Seton Hall but is not eligible to sign a National Letter of Intent until November.
Given its recent history with lawbreakers and troublemakers, Seton Hall may opt to go in a different direction now rather than risk taking Carr.
He briefly attended Elizabeth (N.J.) St. Patrick High School last spring, but returned to Baltimore Patterson to be Averi, who was then sick.
“It’s easy because when I’m around her it takes a lot off, I don’t really worry about anything and when I’m on the court I don’t really worry about anything, either,” he told SNY.tv last month in Philadelphia. “It ain’t that hard on me.”
Carr said then he’s looking forward to getting to Seton Hall in 2013 and making them better.
“I’m definitely going to Seton Hall, they’re definitely my dream school,” he said.
Carr is due to play in the Under Armor Elite 24 game Aug. 24 in Venice Beach, Calif.
