McCullough Talks Seton Hall, Syracuse, Memphis Visits

NEW YORK — Chris McCullough will lead the NYC team on Saturday night in the Big Strick Classic at City College.

After that, the 6-foot-10 McCullough has several unofficial visits lined up.

He will trip to Seton Hall Sunday before taking visits to Memphis Aug. 27 and Syracuse Aug. 29.

A rising junior, McCullough is also planning an upcoming visit to West Virginia, but no date has been set.

“I don’t really know a lot about Seton Hall,” he told SNY.tv in the above video interview Friday at the Gauchos Gym. “Memphis I know a lot about, Syracuse I know a lot about.

“Syracuse and Memphis, they run the same type of offense as my school, Salisbury (Conn.) School, so I watch their teams a lot.”

McCullough also said he’s familiar with West Virginia

“I watched them in the Big East Tournament,” he said. “I’ve seen them play in Madison Square Garden, so it should be a good visit.”

Florida, Kansas and St. John’s are three other schools on his radar.

“I never really watched Florida, I’ve seen like one or two games,” he said. “Kansas, I like Kansas a lot. I like Thomas Robinson. I think I have a little bit of similarities to him.”

For St. John’s coach Steve Lavin, McCullough might just be a must-get. He could anchor the program for a year before potentially going pro.

“It would be good because the Garden is one of the big stadiums to play at,” he said. “St. John’s, I always like them, I always watched them.”

McCullough also has a bond with former St. John’s guard Dwight Hardy.

“He lives in the same building as me,” he said.

Kentucky has shown interest but has yet to offer.

“It feels good because everybody knows Kentucky is a big school,” he said. “They  draft league players so that’s good.”

UCLA also has a connection to McCullough in that his sister goes to school there.

McCullough’s Team Scan won the Fab 48 in Las Vegas last month and is now ranked No. 1 among 16U teams by FiveStarBasketball.com.

Said McCullough: “I showed everybody I can handle the ball, shoot the mid-range, hit the 3-point and help my team win.”
