Isaiah Williams to Iona (UPDATED)

Isaiah Williams, a 6-foot-7 wing from Newark, has committed to Iona but will spend at least one year at the State College of Florida-Manatee.

Williams previously committed to Iona and then left Marshall this past year after he was deemed to be “not in good academic standing,” a source told SNY.tv.

“Isaiah will be a tremendous addition for the Gaels,” Florida-Manatee coach Brock Erickson told SNY.tv. “His length and ability to stroke the 3 are a perfect fit for coach [Tim] Cluess‘ system.

“I believe he will have a chance to make an immediate impact and is a future all-conference player in the MAAC. Isaiah signed here last week and I already have calls from high-major schools for him.”

“Williams is a 6-7 guard who scores in bunches, passes extremely well and runs the point,” said his former coach, Vincent Robinson, of The Robinson School when he first chose Iona. “He makes everyone around him better and can play multiple positions.”
