Shumpert Rehabbing at Knicks Facility

GREENBURGH, N.Y. — With an eye toward getting back on the court in January, Knicks guard Iman Shumpert worked out at the team’s Westchester facility Tuesday.

“Yes, he’s out in the gym working out right now,” said former Iona forward Mike Glover after his workout with the Knicks. “He’s rehabbing with his knee….He’s shooting it right now. He’s doing a couple of dribbling drills. I don’t think he’s supposed to be out there doing it, but you know how he is.”

Shumpert told The New York Post that he is targeting January for his return to the court after ACL surgery ended his promising rookie season during Game 1 of the Miami Heat series.

“It feels great,” Shumpert, an NBA All-Rookie Team selection, told the Post. “[The rehab] is going well. I’ve got a great training staff with me, and I trust them 100 percent. I’m going to them Monday through Friday, and on the weekends I just ice it and do regular stuff.”

The No. 17 pick in last year’s NBA Draft, Shumpert said watching this year’s postseason has motivated him for next year.

“That’s how things go,” he said. “[But] next year there won’t need to be any motivation for me to go hard and do better in the playoffs.”
