Steve Winwood Plays Classic Setlist at Beacon

I’ve seen hundreds and hundreds of show in my day and I’m going to go out on a limb and say the Steve Winwood show I saw last night at the Beacon Theater was maybe in the Top 15 or 20.

Winwood, 64, played a tight 12-song set that included one classic after another, including “Can’t Find My Way Home,” “Low Spark,” “Pearly Queen,” “Light Up Or Leave Me Alone” and “Higher Love” before finishing off the night with inspiring performances of “Dear Mr. Fantasy” (video below) and a soulful “Gimme Some Lovin.”

During a week in which 68-year-old Mick Jagger did a great job hosting “SNL” and 68-year-old Roger Waters was featured on “60 Minutes,” Winwood proved the old guys are still going strong.

If you can catch him on the rest of this tour, do it. Here are the dates.

“I’m A Man”

“Fly”

“At Times We Do Forget”

“Can’t Find My Way Home”

“The Low Spark Of High-Heeled Boys”/”Empty Pages”

“Light Up Or Leave Me Alone”

“Higher Love”
