GREENBURGH, N.Y. –– The way Tu Holloway sees it, Arizona now has the second-best player in the Atlantic 10 Conference after adding Xavier transfer Mark Lyons.
“Mark Lyons is really good,” Holloway told SNY.tv following his workout with the Knicks Wednesday. “I feel like he was the second-best player in the A-10 behind myself.”
For the record, St. Bonaventure forward Andrew Nicholson was named the A-10 Player of the year, while Holloway made the first team and Lyons the third. Like Holloway, Nicholson is now draft eligible.
Earlier this month, Lyons announced that he would spend his final year at Arizona in part because of his comfort level with head coach Sean Miller and assistant Book Richardson, who recruited him to Xavier.
A 6-foot-1, 188-pound junior from Schenectady, N.Y., who averaged 15.5 points and 3.4 rebounds last season, Lyons will be eligible right away.
With the departures of Josiah Turner (SMU) this year and Lamont “Momo” Jones the year before (Iona), Lyons can step in right away and play the point.
“He’ll be the point guard there because I was [at Xavier],” Holloway said. “But he’s a lead guard. He can play the one or the two. It will be a great opportunity for him to play point guard for the first time in college.”
Arizona will add Lyons to the ESPN.com No. 3 recruiting class in the nation that includes bigs Kaleb Tarczewski, Brandon Ashley, Grant Jerrett and Matt Korchek and guard Gabe York. Lyons also has a relationship with New York wing Kevin Parrom, whom Lyons hosted on Parrom’s visit to Xavier.
“He’s really good,” Holloway said of Lyons, “and Coach Miller has a born leader who’s going to a Top 15 team in the country.”

Arizona, where Waiver sloppy seconds go to fail. Have fun playing your game in the NIT and subsequent handful of years as a backup pg in a third-tier Euro league, kid.

You post here between lawn mowing gigs?
I’m happy making the big boy tournament and being a force in college bball. You can focus on AAU kick-backs that lead to home court losses in the NIT, kid.

KU outperformed Arizona the past decade and has a better chance of winning the title in 2013. So much for the past, go finish that big gulp and then grab the weed wacker.

kungpap chicken, the biggest loser on the Internet.
Trolling websites for Arizona articles and commenting endlessly on them, it’s embarrassing. Pathetic really.
He sure seems hung up on Arizona. Feel bad for the guy. Obviously has no life.
It’s ironic he spends all his time commenting on a program he claims is irrelevant. It obviously doesn’t see the irony in it, but it probably doesn’t know the meaning of irony.
kungpao’s team has a great program but he is still clearly losing at life.

Kungpao,
I am a KU fan and you are making yourself look like an idiot. Give it up man. Why do you care so much about Arizona. They have not been relevant in years. And there conference sucks. Give it a rest. You might as well be bashing Texas Tech.

I was clearly losing at life on Bourbon Street a little less than two months ago. You Arizona trolls don’t understand that you brought it on yourselves. I’m still waiting for facts, not personal attacks. Of course they will never come, unlike Carroll’s kick-back.

LOL @ Zona fans trying to take on a KU fan. You guys do realize they just played for a national championship and UA played in the NIT, right? If it weren’t for DWill, Miller’s first 3 years in Tucson would’ve been without a single NCAA appearance.

KU fans… tell us about the Pump brothers and the KU ticket scandal? Pump-n-Run has been funneling players to Kansas, while getting kickbacks from illegal ticket distribution.
