Deron Williams Watches Nets Free Agent Mini-camp

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — As Deron Williams left the Nets’ free agent mini-camp Monday afternoon, Nets GM Billy King asked him, “You  coming back tomorrow?”

“Yes, Mr. King,” Williams said with a smile as he left the gym.

Williams is expected to opt out of his contract with the Nets by July 1 but attended the team’s workout for college players on Saturday wearing Brooklyn Nets gear and was back here Monday sitting next to King watching a group of 21 players that included Adam Morrison, the No. 3 pick in the 2006 NBA Draft.

“I’ll let you guys decipher that,” King said of Williams’ brief comment. “You’re tweeting anyway. I mean, nothing’s changed with Deron.

“I don’t know if people are searching for something because it’s till July [when Williams] can sign…For me, nothing’s changed.”

Williams is expected to be courted by several teams, including his hometown Dallas Mavericks.

He wore blue and read sneakers Monday and when a reporter joked that he needed to change colors, Williams cracked with a laugh, “They don’t know what color to make yet.”
