Kentucky Adds Second Former N.C. State Guard

Kentucky has landed its second former North Carolina State guard.

Julius Mays, a Wright State combo guard who began his career at N.C. State, committed to the Wildcats on Sunday, according to CatsIllustrated.com.

The 6-foot-2 Mays will be eligible immediately next season.

After spending two years at N.C. State and then transferring to Wright State in 2010, Mays joins former N.C. State point guard Ryan Harrow in Kentucky’s incoming class. That group also includes high school players Archie Goodwin, Alex Poythress, Willie Cauley and Nerlens Noel.

According to CatsIllustrated.com, Mays will pursue a Master’s in Sports Leadership that is offered at Kentucky but not at Wright State.

Mays led the Raiders in scoring at 14.1 per game and steals (41) last season while also averaging 2.8 rebounds and 2.5 assists.

Purdue was also involved with the Marion, Ind., native.

“I knew some schools would be interested but I really didn’t think it would blow up like this,” Mays told NewsObserver.com prior to committing.
