Obekpa Still Planning Oregon Visit

By CHIP MILLER & ADAM ZAGORIA

LITTLE ROCK, Ark.Chris Obekpa is still planning a visit to Oregon before he makes his college choice.

“He’s gonna reschedule the visit,” Our Savior New American assistant C.J. Lipscombe said at the Real Deal in the Rock where Obekpa is playing with New Heights. “I’m not sure when, but he’s gonna reschedule it.”

The 6-foot-9 Obekpa was supposed to  trip to the Pac-12 school April 22-24, but postponed the visit.

Obekpa has taken officials to DePaul, Cincinnati and St. John’s and unofficials to Providence and UConn. All of those schools remain in the mix for his services.

Asked about a potential May 5 announcement date, Lipscombe  said: “No that’s not certain, that’s not certain, because he’s not rescheduled the Oregon visit so we’re not sure yet.”

If Obekpa takes an official to Oregon he would still have one left prior to the end of the late signing period May 16.

Asked if he would take a fifth visit, Lipscombe said, “I’m not sure yet, I’ve got to talk with him.”
