MRI Suggests Surgery for UCLA’s Anderson

Kyle Anderson got his MRI results back Wednesday afternoon and they weren’t good.

The 6-foot-9 UCLA-bound point guard has torn ligaments in his thumb and Dr. Marc W. Urquhart of Bayonne, N.J., suggested surgery, which could keep Anderson out of action for three months.

“Dr. Urquhart says he has torn ligaments in his thumb and after reading the MRI and seeing the MRI he believes he needs surgery,” Kyle Anderson Sr. told SNY.tv Wednesday. “We respect his opinion and judgment but are still going to have a second opinion.”

Anderson, a McDonald’s All-American who led St. Anthony to back-to-back New Jersey Tournament of Champions titles, injured the thumb during the last practice before the New Jersey North Non-Public B state final in March.

He then reinjured it during practice for the McDonald’s Game.

He is part of UCLA’s No. 1 ranked recruiting class that now includes Tony Parker, Shabazz Muhammad and Jordan Adams.

Both Anderson and Muhammad are considered probable one-and-done players.

  • Kyle is so overated.
Anyone seen what a real guard by the name of Gabe York can do?
This kid has been disrespected by every all star game and recruiting service in the country.
Someone watch his ball is life senior mix on YouTube and tell me you’ve seen a better guard in the country.

  • Dude, this is about the kid getting injured! If Hurley says he is one of the best players he ever coached, I will take his word for it.

Stop being a troll and go worry about all the transfers from Zona.

  • Everyone looks great on YouTube!

Right now I’d take the following guards/wings over him:
    Muhammad
    Goodwin
    Harris
    Ledo
    Calhoun
    Wiggins
    Aaron Harrison
    Young
    Bird
    Pinson
    Seldon

  • Those guys got the hype Boston cat but not the game.
If he was from NYC he’d be god but since he is from west coast he gets no love. Same story with Reinhardt. Two of best shooters in class period, all these guys you mention look good but can’t a hit a jumpshot 2 save there lives.

  • Didn’t mean Kyle wasn’t really good just overrated is all.
I’ve seen him play in person several times and he is definitely a gr8 player and his IQ is special. But athletically his got a ways 2 go.

  • Guys trust UofA. Obviously everyone who goes to Arizone is superior to any other player in the country

  • wiggins shot 45% from three last weekend at the EYBL. i think his life is pretty safe.

  • seldon shot 37% from three. looks like he makes it off the island.

  • pinson shot 35%, had one game where he played bad and shot 0-7, take that game away and he shoots 53% from three.

  • young shot 42% from three last weekend.

  • bird shot 40% from three last weekend. only took 5 threes. which is pretty impressive when you think about it. young player knows his game already. doesnt settle for the easy or bad shot. but still was able to average 13+ ppg and shoot 59% from the floor.

  • calhoun shot 43% from three in all the EYBL events last year

  • goodwin shot 33%, not great, but average.

  • ledo shot 30% from three in the NEYBL last season but here is what draft express had to say about him:

On the offensive end, Ledo is nothing short of a superb talent, as he’s an extremely potent scorer both attacking the basket and hitting perimeter jumpers. He seems to have taken his jump shot to the next level since we last saw him, as he hit an outstanding 9-for-17 threes in the two games here this weekend. More impressive is that most of them came pulling up off the dribble, where Ledo shows excellent balance, clear cut NBA range, and the ability and confidence to hit a shot with a hand in his face.

  • Most these guys u mention Boston r not 2012 class.
And I’m not impressed with 3 pt fg% in 30’s.
Watch the video and find another guard in 2012 class who does what Gabe can do.
And only reason I’m saying this is bc he is being disrespected by so called scouts. His stock keeps going up yet he takes a huge hot on rankings and gets overlooked by mcDs and Jordan game. While every guard in the game can’t buy a jumper.

  • And rckchalk him going to UofA has nothing to do with my evaluation of him. Sorry we took another recruit from KU head 2 head and u can’t handle it.

  • so michael jordon doesnt impress you since he shot 33% from three for his career.

i’ll take a guard with NBA size, length, athleticism and skill who shoots in the mid 30s from three any day of the week!

  • As a three point shooter micheal Jordan didn’t impress me and he was shooting from 23 feet and not 20.

  • i guess it depends what system you favor and what you want. i’ll take guys like jordan, long, athletic that can create, finish, slash and make plays over 6 foot shooting guards.

  • I agree for the most part Boston, but there r always exceptions to the rule. Plus I feel gave can transition 2 the point if need be and he may only be 6-1 or 6-2 but he has some serious bounce and athleticism.

  • Nah…Kidd-gilchrist shot 25% from three but yet dominated games. That’s what NBA length, size and athletism does when playing for the right coach and in the right system.

And you match those guys against smaller guards and it’s game over.

  • Sorry uofa you took another recruit but wins and losses you fall extremely short…..care to disagree?

  • Top 5 preseason again in the magic crystal ball expert predictions for year 12/13……but like uofabj has said for many years, Kansas is on the way down. Get a clue young man

  • Said 4 many years ?
    Said 12-13 they would struggle.
As far as KU being top 5 that is bs, consolation for finishing 2nd.
KU will b lucky to make sweet 16 next year.
Never been a top 5 team with that much lack of talent.
If u think withey, Johnson, and releford is a top 5 core u r high.
