St. Pat’s Coach Wants Gordon at Seton Hall

St. Patrick coach Chris Chavannes says he doesn’t know where Western Kentucky guard Derrick Gordon will wind up, but he’d like to see him come home to Seton Hall.

“For me personally, I’d love to see him come home,” Chavannes told SNY.tv Friday by phone. “It would be very beneficial to him. Jeff Robinson came home [from Memphis] and had a great end of his college career. This would help both ways, both basketball-wise and for his family.”

Gordon was not immediately available for comment, but a source at Western Kentucky said he had been released to more than 10 schools “closer to home,” including Seton Hall.

“I think they would love to have him,” Chavannes said of Seton Hall. “They’re very interested in him and he knows that.

“I’m hoping he makes a decision and gets it over and done with.”

Gordon averaged 11.8 points and 6.7 rebounds and earned third-team All-Sun Belt honors this past season.

He helped the Hilltoppers win the Sun Belt Conference tournament and reach the NCAAs, where they lost to former teammate Michael Kidd-Gilchrist and eventual champ Kentucky in the second round.
