UConn has offered a scholarship to Sam Cassell Jr. and the senior shooting guard is considering the Huskies.
“They need a big guard that can score and can shoot,” the 6-foot-2 Cassell Jr. told SNY.tv by text following his unofficial visit Wednesday.
Cassell Jr. went for 40 points last Friday against the Winchendon School and is also hearing from Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, USF, UCF, Washington, Maryland and Seton Hall.
Florida State was also expected to watch him practice Wednesday.
“Everyone’s calling on him now,” Notre Dame Prep coach Ryan Hurd said. “He’s played himself into being the best available guard. He’s blowing up.”
Cassell Jr. expects to sign during the late signing period in the spring.

You’re saying this blog is more UConn than UK? Laugh out loud. I think he missed the part where the NCAA didn’t come down with a verdict on their ’13 tourney bid, so UConn issued self-imposed sanctions to help their cause.
IMO, NCAA will decline, which is sad since their current APR is looking to be 970. Too late.

UK makes a lot of posts because UK is news. a big part of this blog is recruiting info. and since UK is out on front on most elite recruits, most posts have a UK-theme to them. but this is a northeast blog at its core. all the info on seton hall, st john’s, providence, jersey and NYC kids in the high school ranks, that is its core.
so yeah….when UConn makes the news as it has i sort of expected to see something about it. i mean its bigger news the rafer alston dont you think?

If I think you just nailed it though, this blog is definitely northeast themed. It’s why after UConn lost to Rutgers and Seton Hall, you would have sworn they made the Final Four. Numerous topics, quotes, why they are elite, etc. Laughable, but can’t knock the hustle.
Btw, I hate UK so it pains me to see you guys being that good. They will not lose another game this year, and the team that defeated them deserve an automatic bid. It’s very hard to predict the tourney as it’s always upset city, but UK pretty much will cruise through it.

uk will probably lose this weekend and @uf. but i can see them going 14-2 in conference. then the madness begins!
if uk gets stuck in a bracket like osu did last year…..that will be tough. but uk should get 2 games in louisville so in a way i think this season boils down to 2 games. sweet 16 and the elite 8.
