Greg Schiano Press Conference; Young Named Player of the Week

Rutgers running back Kordell Young was named the Big East Offensive Player of the Week this week after his stellar performance in Saturday’s 35-17 victory over Syracuse.

The West Deptford, N.J. native rushed 29 times for 143 yards and one touchdown.

Young sat out last season after undergoing knee surgery, but has rebounded to become Rutgers’ top rusher this season. He has 478 yards and five touchdowns despite missing four games because of problems with his left knee. The Knights are 4-1 in games he’s played this season.

Also, junior strong safety Zaire Kitchen was named to the Big East Weekly Honor Roll. Kitchen had a career-high seven tackles and a game-changing sack and forced fumble against Syracuse.

The Scarlet Knights (4-5, 3-2 Big East) visit South Florida (6-3, 1-3) on Saturday at noon.

Rutgers also announced that the Nov. 22 home game with Army would kick off at noon.
