Tony Parker Now Considering UConn

Tony Parker has now added UConn to his list of potential landing spots.

“[Huskies coach Jim] Calhoun called me recently,” Parker told CBSSports.com. “I’ll sit down with my dad. They’re one of his favorite schools.”

Having struck out on big man Jarnell Stokes when he landed at Tennessee, the Huskies are also in the mix for 2012 late signee Chris Obekpa. Calhoun watched the 6-foot-9 Obekpa at the Hoophall Classic on Sunday.

The 6-9 Parker, out of Livonia (Ga.) Miller Grove, is also considering Kentucky, Duke, UCLA, Ohio State and Memphis. Kansas is also involved.

Kentucky, which signed Parker’s friend Alex Poythress, remains a factor.

“Their interest is good,” Parker told the website. “I get the Kentucky calls everyday from [Poythress], making sure I’m watching the game. It’s a great place.”

Ohio State is also an option.

“They’re a great program,” he said. “They do a lot with their bigs, which really works in my favor. They really recruit good around their bigs. I have a deep relationship with the coaching staff.”

UCLA remains actively involved and already has signed St. Anthony point guard Kyle Anderson, who won the IS8 league fall title with Parker on the Playaz Basketball Club.

Anderson and St. Anthony (12-) beat Parker and Miller Grove, 60-48, on Monday at the Hoophall classic, extending their winning streak to 45 games.

Anderson is now 45-0 in a St. Anthony uniform.
