UConn announced Friday that freshman guard Ryan Boatright, who earlier this year was suspended six games by the NCAA for receiving improper benefits, “will be held out of intercollegiate competition effective immediately while the school works cooperatively with the NCAA in a review of his eligibility.”
“This development arises from additional information provided by the NCAA that pertains to conditions and events that pre-date the University’s relationship with Boatright,” the statement added.
Tanesha Boatright, Ryan’s mother, politely declined comment via text.
In November, the 6-foot Boatright was suspended six games for receiving improper benefits. Since debuting for the defending NCAA champs on Nov. 26, he has averaged 10.2 points and 3.5 assists.
“Boatright will not play in Saturday’s game at Notre Dame,” the UConn statement added. “He will continue to practice with the team and may sit on the bench during games, but will not dress or see action while the joint review takes place.”
UConn said it would have no comment.

The NCAA picks and chooses who it looks at Calipari killed 2 programs and nothing happened. IN ZAGS Blog the Ledo kid admitted in print that the head coach at Providence has recuirts stay at his house on visit. Which is a violation of NCAA rules They are mad because UCONN won the Basketball Championship which is a slap in the face to them. Jerry Tarkanian did the same thing to the NCAA and they rode hm the rest of his coaching career they will do the same to Calhoun they dont care about the kid he is a pawn to them. They want to make sure UCONN does not win again this year and by keeping Boatright on the sideline they wear down Napier
