Report: Knicks to Sign Shooter Novak

The Knicks plan to sign veteran shooter Steve Novak to a one-year deal for the veteran’s minimum, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports.

The 6-foot-11 Novak was released by the San Antonio Spurs on Monday and would have to pass through waivers unclaimed before New York can sign him.

Knicks coach Mike D’Antoni was asked Monday about possibly adding another player to the roster after Baron Davis signed Monday.

“Maybe,” he said. “If something makes sense. I know [interim GM] Glen [Grunwald] will look and try to exhaust all the avenues. And if we can get a guy … great. If not, that’s fine. We’re good to go.”

According to Yahoo!, Novak Tweeted on Monday night, “Next stop …. NY” before deleting it.

He also Tweeted, “I want to thank coach Pop and the entire Spurs org for everything they have done for me. Class act top to bottom.”

Novak has made 41.7 percent of his 3-point shots, and 513 of his 720 attempts are from beyond the arc.

He went 23-of-42 from deep last year in San Antonio.

The Knicks also still have the $2.5 “room” exception left to potentially use on someone like James Posey.
