Dakari Johnson Visiting Xavier Again

Count Xavier assistant Rasheen Davis among the top recruiters in the nation.

Davis is the man responsible for getting Dakari Johnson, the No. 1 player in the Class of 2014 according to The Hoop Scoop, on campus for a second time this weekend. The news was first reported by Alex Kline of The Recruit Scoop.

Johnson is on campus Friday night for the game against Georgia while he visits family in the area, Montverde coach Kevin Boyle told SNY.tv.

“I think he’s obviously done a good a job there,” Boyle said of Davis. “He went to Rice. He’s a good recruiter and he’s well known in New Jersey basketball circles. He’s one of the better up and coming assistants.”

Still, Boyle said the 6-foot-10 Johnson, who must sit out the season after coming with Boyle to Florida from Elizabeth (N.J.) St. Patrick, is “wide open.”

In the past, Johnson has mentioned Syracuse, Kentucky and Georgetown.

“I think it’s still early,” Boyle added. “[His mom] is definitely the type of person to have him open right now. He’s a sophomore.

“He’s getting really, really good. His body is starting to get in better shape.”
