In this interview with Five-Star Basketball, Providence signee Ricky Ledo says Ed Cooley is not done recruiting.
Not done by a long shot.
“We’re trying to get Chris Obekpa, we’re trying to get Nerlens Noel, wer’e going hard at him. We’re trying to get JaKarr Sampson,” said Ledo, who dropped 37 points for South Kent in its 94-74 win Saturday over La Jolla Prep at the National Prep Showcase.
The 6-9 shot-blocking Obekpa of Our Savior New American is considering a number of schools, including Providence, St. John’s, UCLA, UConn, Cincinnati, Georgia Tech and Seton Hall. He was supposed to visit UConn recently, but has yet to make the trip. The 2012 big man will sign in the spring.
Noel is among the top two or three players in the Class of 2013 — along with Julius Randle and Jabari Parker — and is being courted by Providence, Kentucky, Syracuse and UConn, among others. Kentucky coach John Calipari watched him Sunday at the National Prep Showcase.
The 6-8 Sampson decommitted from St. John’s and now lists the Johnnies along with Providence, Pitt, Kansas, Baylor, Louisville, Florida, and others. Brewster Academy coach Jason Smith told SNY.tv he won’t decide until after the Final Four.
