Monroe College Expected To Be No. 1 in Poll

A New York junior college is expected to be No. 1 in the nation when the next NJCAA poll comes out Tuesday.

Monroe College in New Rochelle is now a perfect 5-0 on the season after completing a three-game sweep during a trip to Florida.

Monroe was previously ranked No. 2 when it toppled No. 1 College of Southern Idaho, 71-54, Nov. 5.

On Sunday, the Mustangs downed Indian River State College, 90-87, in Florida. The game featured 18 lead changes and 12 ties.

Sophomore power forward Tauron Bailey of Harlem got the final field goal and added a free throw to give Monroe the win.

North Carolina-Central-bound Drimir Ferguson led Monroe with 26 points.
