NEWARK, N.J. — Kansas is the latest school to offer St. Benedict’s Prep junior point guard Tyler Ennis.
“It was big,” Ennis told SNY.tv. “Everyone was real happy for me.”
Kansas assistant Joe Dooley, a St. Ben’s alum, recently attended an open gym and Kansas head coach Bill Self is due in soon.
“Yeah, Coach Dooley said he’s trying to get him out either this week or next week,” Ennis said.
Meantime, Ennis admitted he and his teammates are watching the conference realignment carousel with interest.
“Yeah, the Syracuse and Pitt move [to the ACC], I didn’t expect that,” Ennis said. “Me and Isaiah [Watkins] were watching it on Twitter. So we are going to wait and see until all the teams finish where they’re moving to before we actually look into it.”
For a brief period, it seemed that the Big East might look to add Kansas, Kansas State, Baylor and Iowa State if the Big 12 collapsed.
Theoretically, the Big East could have featured a Kansas-Kansas State championship game, or a Kansas-Baylor title game.
Now that the Pac-12 will remain with 12 teams, the Big 12 situation may stabilize.
Still, Ennis admits it’s pretty strange to see this high-stakes game of musical chairs.
“Yeah, it’s crazy,” he said. “I can’t picture Syracuse and Pitt playing in the ACC vs. Duke. It’s crazy.”
