Perry Ellis Eliminates Duke, Names New Top 4

It isn’t often that a highly-ranked basketball player eliminates Duke from his list.

But that’s exactly what Perry Ellis did in naming his new set of top four schools.

After a family meeting Thursday night, the 6-foot-8, 220-pound Ellis, the Rivals No. 8 power forward in the Class of 2012 out of Wichita (Ks.) Heights, now lists Kentucky, Kansas State, Kansas and Wichita State.

Ellis had previously told a reporter Duke was among his final four, but Duke and Memphis have now been eliminated.

“They [Duke] just came into it too late for Perry to build that total comfort with [the] coaches and school,” Fonda Ellis, Perry’s mom, said by text. “We have supported his decision and think this is a great list and hopefully it will help him now to make that final decision.”

He will host in-home visits with Kansas and Kansas State on Sept. 9.
