L.J. Rose’s recruitment has been complicated on at least two occasions.
At first, North Carolina was his top choice but fellow point guard Marcus Paige committed to the Tar Heels before Rose could.
Then Rose was mulling Texas and UCLA, but Dominic Artis pledged to the Bruins, mucking the waters even further.
“Texas is my leader right now,” the 6-2 senior-to-be at Houston Westbury Christian said by phone from the Nike Global Challenge in Hillsboro, Ore.
The Rivals No. 14 point guard in the Class of 2012 also listed Georgetown, Arizona, Memphis, Kansas, Baylor and UVA, and said he planned to take officials to Texas, Georgetown and Arizona.
“I don’t know about my other two yet,” he said.
Texas has freshmen point guards Myck Kabongo and Sterling Gibbs, but the Houston native still likes the idea of staying home.
“Yes, sir,” he said.
Rose played this summer with a loaded Houston Hoops outfit that includes fellow guards Rasheed Sulaimon (Duke) and J-Mychal Reese (Texas A&M).
“I think I will bring leadership, someone who’s unselfish and is just a winner,” he said.
