Harrow to Kentucky

The Ryan Harrow Sweepstakes is over.

The N.C. State transfer picked Kentucky over Texas, Louisville, St. John’s and Georgia.

“I just felt that they were the best school that would help me reach my goals,” Harrow said Thursday morning by text. “Not to knock any other school because all the schools were great.”

Asked if St. John’s was on his final list, he said, “Yes, they were.”

Kentucky coach John Calipari has sent four straight freshman guards to the lottery: Derrick Rose, Tyreke Evans, John Wall and Brandon Knight (with Knight expected to go this year). Incoming point guard Marquis Teague could be a lottery pick in 2012.

Harrow, a freshman who must sit out a year after transferring, averaged 9.3 points and 3.3 assists last season.

Rodney Purvis, who highly-ranked 2012 guard who decommitted from Louisville, said by Twitter he would still consider Kentucky: “Harrows decision doesn’t change my outlook on UK at all. Unless coach tells me otherwise !”

Harrow’s decision also keeps St. John’s alive for St. Anthony junior point Kyle Anderson.

“Ryan harrow not goin to St johns keeps them on my list. For everyone asking,” he Tweeted.

The Harrow news was first reported by Scout.com.
