Cheek Sets Last 2 Visits; May Wait Until Spring

Fresh off his weekend visit to Kansas for Late Night in the Phog, St. Anthony senior wing Dominic Cheek has set the dates for his last two visits.

After going to Villanova Oct. 24 and Pittsburgh Oct. 31, Cheek will visit Indiana Nov. 7 and Memphis Nov. 14, according to Ben Gamble, the associate head coach at St. Anthony. The NCAA early signing period runs Nov. 12-19

Cheek will choose from among those five schools, as well as Rutgers and Seton Hall, but Gamble said he may not sign until the spring signing period in April.

Rumors had spread over the weekend that the 6-foot-5 Cheek had committed to Kansas during his visit, but they were false.

“No, I didn’t,” the 6-foot-5 Cheek said by text message Saturday morning.

Cheek has former St. Anthony teammates at both Kansas (Tyshawn Taylor) and Pitt (Travon Woodall). He is close friends with Villanova commit Maalik Wayns, who is actively recruiting Cheek to join him at Villanova.

Indiana assistant coach Roshown McLeod is a St. Anthony graduate and the older brother of St. Anthony guard Devon McLeod, a close friend of Cheek’s. Memphis head coach John Calipari and assistant Orlando Antigua also made a strong impression on Cheek during a recent home visit.
