Carter, Judge to Visit Rutgers

Eli Carter, the uncommitted combo guard from Brewster (N.H.) Academy, and former Kansas State power forward Wally Judge will take official visits to Rutgers beginning Friday for the annual “Rutgers Fest,” the end-of-year student life concert and carnival.

“Yes, I am,” the 6-foot-1 Carter said by text. Carter said he was told he would have the opportunity “to come in and play both guard positions.”

A New Jersey native who has lived in both Paterson and Willingboro, Carter also includes Virginia Tech, Pittsburgh, Providence, South Carolina, TCU, Penn State and Iowa on his list.

Eric Harrield, Carter’s mentor and an assistant at St. Anthony, said TCU called last night on Carter and will see him play Monday. Providence is also coming to see him next week.

As a sophomore at Kansas State, the 6-9 Judge played in 17 games and started in 11, averaging 5.5 points per game and 3.8 rebounds per game. He missed five games earlier in the season for what head coach Frank Martin described as a personal issue.

Rutgers needs a shooting guard after JUCO guard Tyree Graham was lost for an uncertain time period with a ruptured right Achilles’ tendon.

Rutgers is also looking at Newark NIA Prep wing Kelvin Amayo, who is also considering Rice, Providence and Towson and is expected to decide soon.

The Scarlet Knights are also considering Huntington (WV) Prep combo guard Maurice Aniefiok

“I think [Rutgers head coach] Mike [Rice]’s going to come down here on Sunday and take a look at him,” Huntington Prep coach coach Rob Fulford said. “And I think Maurice is going to go up there the following weekend (April 22). He’s going to visit Ole Miss this weekend. Then he’s going to Duquesne mid-week next week.”

Bishop Daniels, who asked for his release from Miami in the wake of the coaching change there, is also looking at Rutgers.

“I want to look at Tennessee and Rutgers pretty good,” Daniels told NationofBlue.com. “I just want to explore my other options and see what they are now.”
