Call Rockets’ Alston ‘Coach’

PATERSON, N.J. — When 16-year-old David Anderson learned he was going to be coached by an NBA player this summer, he couldn’t help but get excited.

When he found out it was Rockets guard Rafer Alston, a fellow Queens, N.Y. native, Anderson was thrilled.

“When they told me it was Rafer, I was like, ‘I’m cool with that, because he knows how we are,’ ” said Anderson, a sophomore forward at Alston’s alma mater, Benjamin Cardozo High School. “Some of the other NBA players, they act like they can’t talk to nobody, act like they can’t reach out to their community. But Rafer, he just blew my mind, gave me another perspective.”
