N.C. State’s Lowe Resigns

N.C. State coach Sidney Lowe has stepped down following Tuesday’s meeting with AD Debbie Yow, according to NewsObserver.com.

Lowe has two years left on his deal and his buyout is worth $700,000, the newspaper reported.

“I’m a basketball coach,” Lowe told the Fayetteville Observer several days ago. “So you’re always hoping to coach. So we’re going to sit down and talk. Debbie said that from day one. So we’ll sit down and talk and see where it goes from there…

“This didn’t turn out the way a lot of people expected or hoped it to.”

Lowe, 51, went 15-16 this season and was 86-78 in five seasons at the school he helped lead to the 1983 national championship.

Among the candidates to replace low, according to NewsObserver.com, are Arizona coach Sean Miller, a former N.C. State assistant, and Texas A&M coach Mark Turgeon, a former Roy Williams assistant at Kansas.

St. Benedict’s Prep senior forward Tyler Harris has signed with N.C. State, but was not immediately available for comment.

  • Please, let it be Sean Miller. Jesse will jump off a bridge!

  • It’s funny that he is the only person that ever posts messages on this site. I think he poisons this site with his negativity about every team other than his beloved wildcats.
