Big Night for the Knicks’ Big Russian

NEW YORK – Timofey Mozgov has heard the chants before.

Playing in his native Russia for his club team B.C. Khimki, crowds chanted his first and last name.

But nothing compares to being serenaded by the Madison Square Garden faithful with chants of “Moz-gov, Moz-gov” in the final seconds of the Knicks’ 124-106 victory Sunday night over the Detroit Pistons.

“I felt really, really excited,” the 7-foot Mozgov said after putting up career-highs of 23 points and 14 rebounds in his first appearance since Jan. 9 against the Lakers.
