Eugene McCrory, a 6-foot-8, 240-pound forward who was once committed to Seton Hall, has a number of scholarship offers and hopes to decide in the coming months.
“I’m going to decide in January or February,” he said by text.
McCrory, who has dropped more than 30 pounds since the summer, holds offers from Wagner, Texas Southern, Hofstra, St. Bonaventure and Northeastern, according to Ian Turnbull of CJEOTO, where McCrory is averaging 21.4 points, 11.6 rebounds and 1.3 blocks on a postgrad team that also includes Rutgers signee Kadeem Jack.
Turnbull said he has also received calls from Marquette, Maryland,Indiana, Clemson, Colorado and Quinnipiac. Maryland has invited him to a game in the coming weeks.
McCrory listed Wagner, Maryland, Hofstra, Indiana and Colorado as his favorites.
Hofstra has been working especially hard, Turnbull said, with head coach Mo Cassara and assistant Steve DeMeo coming in on Tuesday.
“He is their priority,” Turnbull said.
McCrory was supposed to visit Wagner and head coach Dan Hurley last Saturday, but had to re-take the ACT.
Still, Turnbull said he’s qualified to play next season.
WILLIAMS-GOSS TO UNLV
Todd Simon of Findlay Prep confirmed Alex Kline’s report that 6-4, 180-pound sophomore point guard Nigel Williams-Goss had verbally pledged to UNLV. “He’s going to have a phenomenal career here,” Simon said. “It’s a great get for UNLV.”
Williams-Goss also considered Washington, Arizona and Oregon State, among others.
