Kilpatrick to Notre Dame Prep

White Plains senior shooting guard Sean Kilpatrick is headed to prep school.

The 6-foot-5, 210-pound Kilpatrick will spend next year under head coach Ryan Hurd at Notre Dame Prep in Fitchburg, Mass., where he hopes to improve his GPA and standardized test score in order to qualify.

“We decided that would be the best move for him, to go to Notre Dame Prep,” said Gerard Jones, Kilpatrick’s advisor and the older brother of West Virginia frosh Kevin Jones. “He has a few (scholarship) offers but we felt that would be his best situation, to go there and then move on. He felt that it would help him grow and mature on his way going into college.”

“The inquiry has been made and if it works out, we’d definitely be excited about having him,” Hurd said by phone.

Kilpatrick averaged 25.6 points last season and was selected to the Jordan Brand Classic Regional Game at Madison Square Garden. He committed to St. John’s recently, but then changed his mind.

“When he committed, he committed pretty fast,” Gerard said. “After he thought about it, he kind of wanted to take a little bit more time as far as the commitment was concerned. He had called (St. John’s head coach) Norm (Roberts) back and told him that he wanted to take more time about his commitment.”

Kilpatrick lists Kentucky, Kansas State, St. Johns and Cincinnati as his favorites. Gerard said Providence is also in the mix.

Gerard added that Kevin Jones posted 44 points and 20 rebounds in a summer league game in Pittsburgh.

“He should have a pretty good freshman year,” Gerard said.
