NEW YORK — The Knicks and Nets can put up all the witty billboards and trade all the biting comments they want, but don’t call it a rivalry until both teams are playing in the postseason.
The Nets haven’t reached the playoffs since 2007 and the Knicks haven’t appeared since 2004.
Still, with their 111-100 victory Tuesday over the Nets at Madison Square Garden, the Knicks (10-9) are now above .500 at the latest stage since they were 16-15 under Lenny Wilkens in January 2005.
