Stix Mitchell Suspended at SHU

Seton Hall athletic director Joe Quinlan has suspended junior forward Robert “Stix” Mitchell for the first two games of the Puerto Rico Tip-Off because of an incident that transpired last year.

“Robert Mitchell will be suspended for Seton Hall’s first two games of the O’Reilly Auto Parts Puerto Rico Tip-Off for the violation of team rules,” the school said in a statement.

  • Wow this is getting almost upsurd! I do not understand why Quinlan would suspend Mitchell for such a stupid infraction unless the NCAA would punish the university even worse. I mean how many people out there would not have taken the free ride with the team when he was in a different place without knowing anyone. I do not understand how they plan to make it through the year with the limited number of players they have. I also cannot understand why it is taking so long for Big Mel to be cleared. I attend SHU and I see him going to classes everyday and he is actually in the classroom next to me.

  • I really think this is the right move. Bobby is a great guy, but let’s look at the brighterside of this. Seton Hall will have a valid excuse when they lose to Memphis and USC, and Stix is rested for the brutal Big East schedule. Sure, it would seem unfair to Robert, but he could have easily found another ride. I mean, the Chinatown bus is like 15 bucks. When I was young, the pike took you straight to Orange. Nothing like a horsedrawn carriage for the day.

Overall, I like the progress of your program. Great players, a great coach, and an easy sell at the Rock. Great luck! GOOOO NOVA.

  • It seems that Joe Quinlan is trying to instill a sense of Accountability in both the coaching staff and the players of Seton Hall. Not necessarily a bad thing especially in what could be a rebuilding year.

What people should remember, it’s not the games in the beginning of the year (especially if it’s against powerhouses like Memphis and USC) that the NCAA committee will be focusing on … It’s the games at the end of the year that will weigh more especially if the Hall can work it’s way to a winning record.

  • I’m sick of Joe Quinlan. He is by far the worst AD in the Big East. He just pulls moves and suspensions out of his ass just to appear like he is doing a good job when no one but himself agrees with what he does.

My question though Adam is why did he suspend Stix for the biggest game of the season before the Big East Schedule hits? What happened to the two games vs. clown teams such as Columbia and St. Fransis?

Joe needs to go, he hates fun at basketball games. I just graduated this past year and you can’t even yell “hell” or “sucks” without Quinlan up your ass about it.
