Phil & Bobby Cover Floyd’s ‘Time’ at MSG

If you’re a Pink Floyd or Grateful Dead fan, you’ll want to check this out.

I was there at MSG last night (missing most of the Giants-Eagles) game when Phil Lesh, Bobby Weir and Furthur covered Floyd’s “Time.” Along with “The Wheel” and “Brokedown Palace,” this was one of the evening’s special moments. (What is the protocol when the Fat, Drunk, Stupid guy next to you is falling all over you?)

In other rock ‘n’ roll news, The Allman Brothers Band will return to their rightful spot at the Beacon Theater for their annual March run beginning March 10. They were handing out placards last night about it at the show.

Finally, PBS is airing what looks to be an interesting doco tonight at 9 on John Lennon, “LennoNYC.” (UPDATE: I watched it and it’s tremendous. Check it out here.)

The film features never before seen footage of Lennon and Yoko Ono, as well as Lennon’s time in recording studios working on music, and the couple strolling through New York.  It also features footage of Lennon taking care of his son, Sean.
