St. Pat’s Boswell Getting Looks (UPDATED)

**After I wrote this post, Jason’s father emailed me to say there was no timeframe on his son’s decision.**

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J.Jason Boswell, one of the top prospects in the Class of 2013, holds offers from Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Seton Hall, Virginia Tech, Cincinnati, Houston, Iowa State and Hosftra.

He has visited Syracuse, St. John’s and Seton Hall unofficially.

“[I have] no favorites,” he said. “I like to keep my options open.

His father, Orville, said there was no time-frame on his decision.

“There is no timeline as to when he will make his decision,” he said.

As for what Jason will bring to a school, Boswell said, “I’m a very versatile player. I like to get people involved but I can score the ball.”

During current Duke freshman Kyrie Irving’s senior year, St. Patrick was banned from the New Jersey state tournament in 2010, but Boswell said Kentucky-bound wing Michael Gilchrist and the Celtics want to win the New Jersey Tournament of Champions and earn a No. 1 national ranking this year.

“We’re looking to win the states this year and be the No. 1 ranked team because I don’t think we’ve been No. 1,” he said.

**St. Pat’s coach Kevin Boyle is very high on 6-9, 265-pound freshman Dakari Johnson, who has been called the best 14-year-old in the country.

“It would surprise me if he doesn’t end up 7-foot to 7-2 , 300 to 310 [pounds] and be able to carry it well,” Boyle said.

As far as his recruitment, Boyle added: “He went unofficially to Georgetown and I don’t think there’s anybody who’s not going to offer him. He just has terrific potential. His biggest thing is to get in great condition.”

**St. Pat’s opens the season Dec. 17 against Westfield at home. The schedule includes a trip to the City of Palms in Florida with games against Christ the King and Mater Dei; a matchup with Tyler Harris and St. Benedict’s Jan. 9; and a contest against Andre Drummond and St. Thomas More Feb. 13.
