George Mason got a double-dose of good news on Sunday when St. Benedict’s Prep shooting guard Vaughn Gray (left) and Christ the King point guard Corey Edwards (below) both committed during their official visits.
“We talked about it when we got down there,” the 5-foot-10, 176-pound Edwards said by phone. “We felt mutual. I’m a pass-first point guard and he’s a scorer. That would be a perfect situation for both of us.”
Edwards chose George Mason over UNLV, Fordham and Hofstra.
“I liked the whole atmosphere, the crowd, the team, the coaches,” Edwards said.
The 6-5, 185-pound Gray, who also considered Siena, echoed those sentiments.
“It fits all my needs,” he said. “I just felt comfortable there. It was a great academic school. I love the area. I got family down here. My aunt lives down here. I just feel like I love the team, the atmosphere. I felt comfortable with Coach [Jim] Larranaga and I felt it was a great opportunity for me.”
St. Benedict’s coach Roshown McLeod said Gray will bring scoring and defense to George Mason.
“Vaughn is a tough defender with great size for his position,” he said. “As he becomes a better shooter he will fall into what George Mason has had over the years — four-year seasoned players that can win with experience.”
As for playing with Edwards, Gray added: “That’s my man. We knew each other for a long time, playing at New Heights and with the Playaz. We definitely had a relationship.”

That’s the worst news.. I was hoping Gray would come to Siena, it’s a real shame. Stupid choice…..

Why so bitter kw? Between Ryan Pearson, Paris Bennett, Jonathan Arledge and now Vaughn Gray I would’ve though Siena fans would be used to losing recruits to Mason by now.
