NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. — On a rainy Tuesday afternoon at Iona College, Mike Glover displays the full array of his basketball skills inside the Hynes Athletics Center.
First the 6-foot-7, 220-pound Glover, known in streetball circles as “Optimus Prime,” swishes a 15-foot jumper in the middle of practice.
“Nice shot, Glov,” a voice chirps.
Next comes a one-handed interior touch pass to a teammate that results in a layup. Then comes a 6-foot shot that caroms gracefully off the backboard and through the net. And finally, Glover takes the much smaller Rashon Dwight off the dribble and attacks the basket for a powerful driving layup.
