Tyler Harris Visits N.C. State

The recruitment of 6-foot-8 Long Island wing Tyler Harris is heating up.

Providence head coach Keno Davis and assistant Rodell Davis were in to St. Benedict’s Prep on Monday to watch Harris, who is slated to visit Providence officially Oct. 15.

Harris has already visited Iowa and then hit N.C. State this past weekend. St. John’s is the final school on his list and no date has been set.

As for N.C. State, Torrel Harris, Tyler’s dad, said it went well.

“The N.C. State official visit was great,” Torrel said. “We had some good conversations with head coach Sidney Lowe, Larry Harris, Monte Towe and Pete Strickland about the direction the program is headed. Tyler and I were very impresssed with all the experience of the coachees and staff members.

“We met with director of academics Carrie Legger, who discussed every aspect of the academics and their dedication to help the student athletes graduate.

“We watched the team practice for one hour and Tyler was able to see how his style of play would fit into their offense and the things that Coach Lowe demands from his players.  We attended the football game against Virginia Tech, which was a thrilling game.

“He spent some quality time with the players on the team both Friday and Saturday. He thought the players were cool and he got along with them well.”
