Two of the top prospects in the Class of 2011 visited UCLA this weekend when Oak Hill point guard Quinn Cook and Memphis Melrose wing Adonis Thomas hit Los Angeles.
“It was a great visit,” the 6-foot-6, 215-pound Thomas, the No. 6 small forward in the class, said by phone. “I got a chance to just really enjoy L.A., see how people live in L.A. I got a tour of the city and saw the campus. It was a big campus. I got a chance to meet the trainers and academic people so that was great. Just seeing the history of UCLA was great.”
Cook, the No. 7 point guard in the class, also said by text the visit “went well.”
Thomas said the two of them spoke about potentially playing together and how they might fit in at UCLA.
“I’ve been knowing Quinn for two, three years now,” Thomas said. “He’s real good.”
“I talked to him and [freshman guard] Tyler Lamb,” Thomas said. “We all discussed the guys leaving, [forward] Tyler Honeycutt and [guard] Malcolm Lee might be leaving if they have good years. We could fill those positions and get after it next year.”
Thomas has also visited Tennessee and Arkansas and still has Florida (Oct. 9) and Memphis (Oct. 15).
“They’re all equal,” Thomas said of his schools.
Cook is slated to visit Duke Oct. 15 with the Blue Devils’ newest commit, Austin Rivers.
He also mentioned visiting Villanova Oct. 22 and trying to get to Kansas.

I’m sure they’d love to play together, but there is only a remote possibility of their being enough scholarships available for UCLA to take them both. First of all, there may be an NBA lockout. Second of all, if there isn’t a lockout Malcolm Lee may test the waters but he will likely be told that he wouldn’t get drafted and should return to school. Of course, you never know if someone may unexpectedly transfer so I’m sure UCLA will continue recruiting both for the time being.
Personally, I would be quite surprised if Cook didn’t end up at Duke and Thomas at Memphis when it’s all said and done.
