NEW YORK –– Unnerved by several controversial foot-fault calls and the aggressive, steady play of Serbian Janko Tipsarevic, Andy Roddick was eliminated late Wednesday night in the second round of the U.S. Open.
Roddick, the No. 9 seed and 2003 champ, became unnerved by a foot-fault call late in the third set and fell to Tipsarevic, 3-6, 7-5, 6-3, 7-6 (4).
The match lasted three hours, 18 minutes and ended just before midnight in front of a rowdy, near full house in Arthur Ashe Stadium.
