I just got off the phone with the Brooklyn District Attorney’s office.
They said Lance Stephenson was released on his own recognizance without bail Sunday night and faces a preliminary hearing Oct. 19 in criminal court.
Phonecalls to Stephenson’s attorneys, Alberto Ebanks and Adam Sattler, have not been returned.
Stephenson, a rookie guard with the Indiana Pacers, was charged with assault, attempted assault, harassment, menacing and criminal possession of a weapon after pushing Jasmine Williams, the mother of his daughter, down a flight of stairs early Sunday morning in her Brooklyn apartment.
“Then he slammed her head on to the bottom step,” a source in the DA’s office said.
“When they charged him with weapons possession, I’m assuming they’re referring to the steps. There were no other weapons.”
