Mayo Picks New Agent

Mayo_headO.J. Mayo has picked a new agent, and he happens to be the same agent LeBron James has.

His name is Leon Rose.

The story was first reported by Darren Rovell of CNBC, and has since been confirmed elsewhere.

“Leon Rose,” Mike Woelfel, the Mayo family’s lawyer in Huntington, W.V., told the Huntington Herald-Dispatch.

The 6-foot-5 Mayo cut ties with Calvin Andrews of Bill Duffy Associates after allegations surfaced on ESPN’s “Outside the Lines” that BDA had given Mayo gifts and cash through Rodney Guillory, a “runner” who was part of Mayo’s inner circle. Louis Johnson, another member of Mayo’s entourage, alleges that BDA gave Mayo an estimated 30,000 in cash and gifts as an inducement to sign with the agency, which he ultimately did.

Mayo then severed his ties with BDA and began searching for a new agent.

Mayo is expected to be a lottery pick in the June 26 NBA Draft.

Todd Mayo, O.J.’s younger brother and a sophomore at South Point (Ohio) High, has picked up a scholarship offer from Marshall coach Donnie Jones, according to Jeff Goodman of FoxSports.com. He averaged 24 points per game last year.
