DeAndre Liggins is awaiting NCAA Clearinghouse approval and may or may not be eligible to play point guard next season at Kentucky.
“We still feel good about DeAndre getting done,” said Todd Simon of Findlay Prep. “Everything is in the eligibility center’s hands. We’re just awaiting word. They said they have thousands of kids they look at and especially high numbers, so we’re waiting. Curtis Dennis just got cleared Thursday so we’re excited to see him at New Mexico next year.”
Liggins is ranked No. 6 among point guards and No. 28 overall in the class of 2008 by Rivals. With the departure of Ramel Bradley (graduation) and Derrick Jasper (transfer), Liggins is being counted on to come in and run the point for Billy Gillispie’s squad. JUCO guard Kevin Galloway could also play the point.
The 6-6 Liggins averaged 13.6 poitns, 7.6 rebounds, 5.6 assists and 1.5 steals while shooting 37.4 percent from 3, 48.4 percent from the floor and 71.5 from the line. He is one of five guards from Findlay who could play D-1 ball next year. Findlay finished 32-1, losing in the National Prep Championship game.
