Remi Barry Weighing His Options

After what he called an “amazing” 48-hour official visit to St. John’s, Remi Barry says he will make a college decision “maybe like next week.”

The 6-foot-7, 220-pound Barry, a rising senior at Loomis (Calif.) Del Oro High, will choose from among St. John’s, UCLA and Arizona State.

“They are all equal,” Barry said Tuesday night. “I’m going to choose my school based on basketball, not the city, the life, the fans, all of that.

“The school that I’m gonna choose is gonna be based on basketball. Everything [else] is an extra.”

Barry said first-year St. John’s coach Steve Lavin told him he could be part of a big turnaround at the Big East school.

“He wants me to put St. John’s where they used to be and where they deserve to be,” Barry said.

Can he do it?

“Yeah,” he said.

Barry spent time on campus in Queens, played with the team and visited Times Square.

“It was amazing,” he said. “The city was amazing. The fans were were amazing. The coaching staff were amazing.”

Now comes time to ponder his decision with his advisors, Chris Hendricks and Doc Haynes, and his family.

“I’m just trying to rest right now,” he said. “I don’t want to rush anything.”
