Erin Andrews in The House

Erin Andrews is in the house for the North Carolina-Rutgers game here at Rutgers Stadium. Looks like my source on Barack Obama also being here turned out to be wrong. Then again, maybe Obama didn’t want to turn off Southern voters by appearing to like “big-time football.” You know folks in the South don’t think North Carolina-Rutgers is big time.

Andrews will be a sideline reporter, helping out ESPN talents Chris Fowler, Craig James and Jesse Palmer.

Despite what Rutgers coach Greg Schiano says, this game is pretty much a “must-win” for Rutgers as it tries to avoid an 0-2 start.

As Tom Luicci pointed out today, only one Rutgers team since 1912 (the 1977 version) started a season 0-2 and finished with a winning record. Only two teams in Big East history won a share of the league title after an 0-2 start, Syracuse in 1995 and Virginia Tech in ’96.

**Rutgers DE Gary Watts will not play in tonight’s game. He suffered a knee injury during Saturday’s practice, and it’s questionable whether he’ll return this season.
