With Terrence Ross already headed to Washington, can the Huskies expect his Portland (Ore.) Jefferson teammate Terrence Jones to join him?
Both players will formally announce their college plans Friday at a 6:30 ET press conference at Portland Jefferson.
As first reported by ZAGSBLOG Sunday night, the 6-foot-5 Ross (pictured courtesy the Seattle Times) has already opted for Washington over Kansas, Kentucky, Oregon and Oklahoma.
“I am going to Washington because of the great relationship I have with the team and coaches. I thought it would be the best choice for me and I would fit in with the team,” Ross told ZAGSBLOG contributor Alex Kline via Facebook.
The 6-8 Jones is coming off a recent official visit to Kansas.
“The trip to Kansas was great. I got to see how the team interacts with each other and how it’s a family atmosphere,” Jones told Rivals.com.
Jones told Rivals he was hosted by sophomore Tyshawn Taylor, the former St. Anthony star, and that he also spent time with freshmen Thomas Robinson and Elijah Johnson.
“The support the players receive at Kansas is something that stands out,” Jones told Rivals.com. “Everybody knows who those guys are, and there is a lot of support. Kansas is one of my options, and they are even with the other schools.”
Jones is also mulling Washington, Kentucky, Oklahoma, UCLA and Oregon.
Will he and Ross end up making Friday twice as nice for the Huskies?
“It could happen but I want him to do what’s best for him and me to do what’s best for me,” Jones said at the Jordan Brand Classic. “If that’s together then that’s good. But if it’s not then I’ll respect it.”

I’d love to see Jones come to KU.
He would instantly put KU back in the National Championship hunt.
After losing Xavier, Cole, and Sherron, KU theoretically should take a step back.
However, with Selby taking Sherron’s spot, a couple upperclassmen coming off redshirt seasons last year to fill the minutes and scoring that Xavier gave us, Jones filling the 3-4 spot so Marcus can move to the 5, and all the other guys a year more mature KU will be right back in the top 10 when March rolls around.
Washington should be really good this year, but if you have a chance to compete to play significant minutes at KU, you go to KU.

One thing that was left out is that Jones told rivals “my mom will support me wherever I go” I say this because alot of speculation was that KU was out because mom didnt make the trip, and he was real quick to point out that mom would support him. Like I always say about recruiting its all speculation and this is just that but is a lil bit interesting he sais that. Almost like KU is heavy in his thoughts, who knows I hope Im right.

MilesCat / April 28, 2010
OK…I will be real here and may get toasted for saying this. If Terrence wants to got a “right now” contender he will go to Washington or Kansas. They both have a solid nucleus returning and with a few pieces added here and there can be contenders for a championship from day one. Now, if he wants to showcase his skills from day one, be constantly talked about, and be on television every week; he choses UK. UK will take some early loses, but could by the end of the year contend if all the new pieces blend together. Well, am I way off base here? I really have no idea where he goes…gut says Huskies! Good luck to all schools.
/
ChicagoUK / April 28, 2010
Interesting comments here.. I had read the comments on the LWJ article and it seemed KU fans were discouraged by Jones’ somewhat bland statement after the visit. There was also concern that his host was Tyshawn Taylor (not sure why?)
Anyway, I think (pure speculation) that TJ is truly undecided right now. The pros and cons have been debated ad nauseum – KU, UK and UW fans can each rattle off the reasons why their school is the best fit.
My personal opinion is that it will fall UW>UK>KU but nothing will surprise me.. unless he pulls out an Oklahoma hat or something..

Chicagouk-
Some KU fans have some kind of blinding hate towards Taylor, i will never understand it. Theyre mad about the facebook stuff and the fight earlier in the year, so every mistake he makes on the court is magnified in their eyes.

I think it’s down to UW & KU. My gut says UW will land him, but I wouldn’t be shocked if he chose KU. I wouldn’t also wouldn’t be shocked if he chose UK, but I think they’re on the outside looking in right now. If he opts for Oregon or Oklahoma, I’d be extremely surprised.

It looks as though Tony Wroten Jr is now getting some attention. Maybe not the kind he wanted. Check out CBSsports.com in the blogs. Apparently he has tweeted some information that UK boosters are sending letters to him and Teague. Read it yourself. Yes he tweeted that!

I am a KU fan, but I really think if he was going to KU, he would have committed on the trip. Especially with Ross already leaking his decision to choose Washington. I don’t think Self would have let him out of there to go back home and think it over or let other people talk him out of it. Of course this is all guessing and getting almost as much as my info from comments on stories as I do the stories. (But it seems that is becoming a standard practice, even for professional reporters.
This KU recruiting style is a huge change from Roy. He would never over-recruit. I remember a few years ago he Told Chuck Hayes he was no longer recruiting him to KU because they had filled that need with another player. Neither KU or Williams do that anymore.
/
Thunderstorm / April 28, 2010
According to the CBSsports blog the specific tweets were pulled but several who saw them also saved them. They appear down in the blog a few responses down. The Wroten tweet even calls out the name of the UK booster. Not really sure how much of a viloation it is, if any.
I do recall that Memphis had to stop recruiting Abdel Gaddy because a FEDex employee (also a Memphis Tiger booster) spoke with Gaddys mom, who also worked FedEx. It was a very brittle situation.
/
ChicagoUK / April 28, 2010
This is a documented fake (both Cal and Teague). Of all schools, some Maryland student did it..
/
ChicagoUK / April 28, 2010
Worked out great for Chuck Hayes. He is a legend at UK and has had a great NBA career.
I don’t know if Roy did this at KU, but he has a great strategy in that he does not offer scholarships to every player UNC recruits. He dangles the actual scholarship offer like an amazing reward that cannot be refused once it is on the table. The job he did with Harrison Barnes was remarkable – like Cal did with Marquis Teague, Roy Williams not only got an amazing player, he also placed a massive blow on his main rival (Duke).
Anyway, Jones to annouce at 3:30PM PST. CJ Leslie will probably announce on Friday too.
/
UofA BJ / April 28, 2010
LMAO, Im sure it is just a mistake. That kind of stuff doesnt happen at UK.
/
UofA BJ / April 28, 2010
Maybe, but he already has a big press conference for friday, and we all know these kids love the spotlight and want as much press as possible.
/
BrandonUW / April 28, 2010
The fact that Jones is no longer waiting for Leslie to decide, which originally was thought to be the main factor in whether or not he went to Kentucky, makes me think he eliminated them. I believe he is down to UW and Kansas, and people throwing out Kansas based on his comments after the visit are all wrong – he had some very bland things to say about UW as well after his trip which made many fans on our blogs freaking out. And the reason he didn’t commit on the trip is because he wants the drama to build around him so people will remember him and he gets his moment in the spotlight. That being said, I’d say with no conviction at all, its 60/40 UW at this point.
Stay tuned, Friday could be very interesting…..

I don’t read anything into the fact that he didn’t announce his committment on the trip. For one, I think it’s very doubtful he would do that without his mom there. And has been mentioned, he has the press conference set for Friday anyway. Also, for all we know he could have told Coach Self he was coming, just chose to not announce right then and there. I think I agree with BrandonUW, probably a 60/40 UW lean.
/
newdiabolic316 / April 28, 2010
that’s pretty awesome, just the UK isn’t getting him.
/
ChicagoUK / April 28, 2010
After the CJ Leslie news, I’d bet Terrence Jones signs with UK. I have no inside knowledge and I am obviously biased, but that is my educated guess.
He will have unlimited PT, insane exposure and the fastest path to the NBA.
However, the pull to play near home is huge.. but I think CJ’s news will push him to UK.
We’ll see on Friday!
/
fearthephog25 / April 28, 2010
If TJ desires EXPOSURE, he chooses Kansas. Jayhawks are always on ESPN and ESPN Big Mondays. I don’t recall seeing UK in the National Spotlight all that much on television last year. Kansas was on ESPN every week and CBS on the weekends.
As far as UW, why play on FSN (which is hardly viewed) in the pac 10? Who else teaches the BIG MEN better than Danny Manning?
/
tsmooth / April 28, 2010
I’m going to have to respectfully disagree with you. All signs point to TJones signing with the Huskies.
With UW, he will have tons of playing time as well. Also, what proof do you have that UK is the fastest path to the NBA? Do you not recall Brandon Roy, Spencer Hawes, or Nate Robinson? All are UW alum. UK was blessed with ridiculously talented players this year, that is why 5 are going to the NBA. One year doesn’t qualify UK as the fastest track to the NBA. If that were the case, Memphis would be NBA U because we produced the last two ROY’s.
/
UofA BJ / April 28, 2010
With all due respect fear the fog, NBA scouts and GM’s dont care what channel its on or where UW is located they will see the games either way. In my opinion UW is the fast track to the NBA for TJ. He will be the man from day one and they will be the best team in the west.
/
tsmooth / April 28, 2010
Agreed. He’ll be the #1 player at UW, as opposed to being the 2nd or 3rd best player at UK or KU. Factor that in with location and a good relationship with UW’s head coach Romar, and that looks like both Terrences are UW bound.
/
BlueCat32 / April 28, 2010
LOL…Not on television that much…ESPNU 3 games- ESPN/ESPN2 10 games- CBS 5 games…18 games on national tv total…I guess some games might have been regional coverage that were not seen in your area, same as KU in my region…..
/
fearthephog25 / April 28, 2010
I hear what you are saying. Either way I look forward to watching TJ play, either @ UW or @ KU. I am a Jayhawk now living in Seattle, and if he chooses UW, I will still go watch him in Edmundson Pavillion.
I just know the difference though between 16,000 + in Allen Fieldhouse compared to 10,000 in Edmundson Pavillion. Either way he is a good kid and deserves the best. I still don’t think the Pac 10 has the talent to elevate his game and prepare him for the next level. He certainly will dominate the Westcoast.

blasphemy / April 28, 2010
I would agree and disagree with you on this.
I agree with the fact that all the “signs” point to him signing with UW. Because anyone who half follows recruiting knows he wants to play stay out on the west coast. I don’t disagree with this
However, I disagree, and don’t believe that there are enough “signs” to actually say with any certaintity what-so-ever that Jones is going to UW. FACT: Jones has been one of the few recruits to keep a VERY tight lid on what he’s thinking and to speculate beyond that is just foolish.
With that out of the way, as a UK fan, I won’t be shocked if he commits to UW, I’m not stupid.
I also will say that the proof is in that percentage of this years team going to the draft, and the fact that the quantity of one-and-dones Calipari has had is greater than any other coach. Has any other coach had 7 total one-and-done first rounders? Tell me a coach with more one-and-dones of that magnitude and I will then agree with you, but I simply don’t know of any. Btw, the 7 is based on the 3 from Memphis, and assuming all 4 freshman go in the draft in the first round. I am willing to revise this if they don’t. Also, I’m talking about the coach being the best “path to the NBA”, not the school, just for . Sorry about the length of this post.

Being serious and going beyond the “one-up” game between schools, the SEC has a MUCH bigger contract with ESPN/CBS than the Big 12 does. Yes, it is mostly for football, but it is still a bigger contract.

You forgot another sign: His high school teammate, and longtime friend, Terrance Ross, has committed to UW. Also, he has a very good relationship with Coach Romar. Not arguing, just adding a point.
You’re right. By a coach’s standards, Coach Cal has had more one-and-dones than any other college coach. The only other one that comes to mind is Thad Matta, who’s had 5. But, you have to look at those who are going pro, and by that standard, you see a lot of talented players who would have been lottery picks out of high school: Rose, Evans, Wall, Cousins, and DaJuan Wagner. Bledsoe and Orton are being drafted on potential alone.
No problem, man. I enjoy a good debate or even a good college basketball discussion. This isn’t an insult to the UK fanbase(OK, it might be) but the majority of the UK fans I know/talk to are, well, idiots. Good to have a non-violent discussion, LOL.

Cal never should of pushed his boys out the door to the NBA. He just wanted that kick back money from former players. UK will be no where near the team it was last year. I see a same scenerio as unc went through this past season. I feel bad for Brandon Knight, it just puts more pressure on him to perform every single night.

Wow! Using “House” on Fox as a justification for not being on Big Monday? No self-respecting basketball fan would watch House instead of basketball. Then again, self-respecting and UK fans seldom go hand-in-hand. I mean, by the “afraid of network drama programming” logic, they stuck UK on Tuesdays when more viewers were tuned into NCIS…television’s most watched show. Sorry, there I go again. Logic and UK fans seldom go hand-in-hand either. Feel free to come back with some Desperate Housewives or Grey’s Anatomy smack. The rest of the country knows that’s what you guys are tuned into. Ya know, for the chance to check out women who aren’t your cousins.
Leave it to UK fans to translate one-and-dones with Coach Cal being the fastest way to the NBA. As has been pointed out, the vast majority of those kids were NBA lottery material before he got ahold of them. Before kids HAD TO go to college, how many one-and-dones did he coach? He’s coached up a few NBA players. Camby & Douglas-Roberts come to mind. Sorry, but the true measure of a coach being able to get kids to the NBA is taking kids who weren’t going to go there before going to college. Terrence Jones is likely going to the NBA anyway, wherever he ends up won’t be a reflection on whatever coach is lucky enough to have him next season.
Also leave it to UK fans to spin their recruiting defeats into a recruiting victory with the thinking that surely another kid, a better kid, is coming there. They feel that signing every elite high school player is their birthright. Hands down the most arrogant fans in any sport. Who else prints up T-Shirts to celebrate being ranked #1 in the polls…for one week…in January?

to the UW fans out there…why did Ross let the cat out of the bag early? He & Jones were supposed to announce at the same time this Friday. If Jones was coming to UW, why jump the gun?
This is just rampant speculation, but perhaps it is because Jones is not going to UW, and with Jones being the higher ranked player Ross did not want to all the attention directed Jones’s way. If they were going to the same place, most questions would apply to both of them and would guarantee a shared spotlight. If they weren’t, it would almost certainly guarantee Ross a diminished spotlight.
Of course I’m not clueless. I do make room for the possibility that it was either to try and sway Jones to UW or that Ross didn’t even want to share the spotlight at all. Granted the way he let it out didn’t really garner him a whole lot of pub., but hey it’s all just speculation right now.

Thanks, appreciate the info. Sounds like a good player. Recruiting rankings are pretty fickle anyway. Often when a player commits early his ranking plummets, so if he was previously committed it could explain his low ranking. Lot of KU fans think that was the case with Royce Woolridge, a KU commit. He was ranked in the 70s when he announced his junior season, now he’s #117. Granted he wouldn’t have been an all-american, but he had a great senior season so it’s hard to fathom another reason for dropping 40 spots.

Calipari left Memphis a mess;
took Wall, Cousins and Bledsoe.
Everybody knows he has connections;
World Wide Wes and his carnival show.
All we hear is Yap Yap Yap;
Yet they they need to look at their SOS and RPI.
Bob Knight called out ole’ Calipari;
Saying he is a cheat, snake and lie.
What is a Kentucky fan to do;
Their teams turnover (232) to assist (108) ratio is 2.5 to 1.
Becareful what you paid for;
Your Coach will leave you with zero, zilch, none.
When posters address UK;
Most will type and speak of Self and KU
It’s all okay in the end UK fans
Because KU is #1 waiting for you.

1940s – 1950s: KY basketball found guilty of point shaving. Received the NCAA version of the death penalty.
1950s – 1960s: KY Adolph refuses to recruit African American players. Why? He knew the racist boosters would go berserk. Finally, in 1969, KY Adolph gets Thomas Payne as his first African American player. In such a learned environment as KY, what did the fans do? They booed Payne on their own home court. Why? He was black.
1980s: Players cheating on college entrance exams and packages of money bursting open before being received by recruits. KY fires Eddie Sutton and AD just in time to avoid getting hit with modern version of NCAA death penalty. Oh yes, and KY suffers its worst loss ever (to KU) in 1989 to close out the decade on a high note.
1990s: KY runs off Pitino, their best coach in years. He then returns to the great state of KY, except in archival Louisville. You must be so proud.
2000s: KY hires their first African American coach in late 1990’s. Not bad. But, soon runs him off because he ran a clean program and did not win a second NC title, after he just won his first NC at KY. Nice loyalty. Later, KY hires a good coach in Billy Clyde and then drives him to drink. But that’s OK; KY then hires the sleaziest coach currently available – a man who has abandoned two separate Final Fours at two different schools. Yeah Id be real proud.

fearthephog25 says: “uk will be # 18-25 at best next season”
then says after Blasphemy proposes a bet from the former: “You have to finish the season above 18”
refresher on what at best means in this context: “ever, regardless of when”
Blasphemy Says: Contradiction, but I will one up you, because I have big ones: UK goes as far or further than Kansas in the Tourney. If both go to the NIT, I don’t think either should brag, but if just one goes to the NIT, then the other automatically wins. Take the bet? the bet will consist of what the other wants them to do in the form of 2(debatable number) posts after the tourney.

Man, y’all are really going at it.
Fearthephog- just take the bet and end this. It makes you, and other KU fans, to look really bad, and I know that KU fans don’t want/need that.
UK and KU are about on the same level when it comes to history and prestige. Arguing which is better is like arguing who is better between Pete Sampras and Roger Federer. BOTH ARE DAMN GOOD, AND WILL CONTINUE TO BE SO.
Right now, KU is ahead, but that is only because UK had a bad decade by their standards. The recruiting and game success Calipari had in his first year only bodes well for UK in the future.
Hell, if either team ends up top 12 at the end, I’LL EAT CROW. There. Somebody took the petty bet. Now let’s move on before Ali Footandmouthfetish is brought up again. LOL.
/
tsmooth / April 29, 2010
UK’s class so far is still top 10, regardless of what you say. Kanter showed at the JBC that he is a dominant post player, and we all know what Knight can do. Stacey Poole looks like the glue of the team next year, and Jerrod Paulson will be a very good walk-on. Doron Lamb can shoot with the best of them.
In fact, UK’s class is by far ahead of KU’s, I know you’ll say that KU didn’t need a top class because they are returning a lot. KU is losing 3 NBA players. That won’t go unnoticed next year, and UK losing 5 players is devastating as well.
UK isn’t even done recruiting, so trying to get a rise out of a UK fan that way is very premature. We all know John Calipari is one of the best closers in the business

Yes, I’m quite certain you hadn’t finished reading it yet. Another product of the Kentucky education system no doubt. I know you guys have trouble with multiple paragraphs, especially when there’s no pictures. The funniest part is after admitting your reading deficiencies, you try and claim I can’t read! By the way, it’s spelled “truly”. Also feel free to not capitalize words mid-sentence. Oh the irony. Thanks for re-posting it though.
(Here comes another paragraph. Feel free to grab a juice or take some tylenol at this point).
Sorry that I obliterated your “we’re not on Mondays because ‘House’ is on Mondays” argument, forcing you to retreat to the “I was HALF-JOKING” retort. As for not being smart enough to understand things, well let’s see…you think that I’m “po’ed” about something. Not at all. I LOVE that UK fans are out and about. While you guys were laying low following some NIT appearances, the only people I had to clown on were Missouri fans. It’s fun for awhile, but you guys! Man you’re such easy marks…it’s a nice change of pace. I mean there’s the “Back on Top” t-shirts I referenced, the bottles of hooch with Coach Cal’s goofy mug silhouetted on them, Hot Rod Strickland’s DUI…it’s like Christmas morning every day with you guys!
I’ll wrap this up before you stroke out. I commend you for what by your pathetic standards was a nice attempt at a comeback. Keep them coming; just more fodder for me to make you look foolish.

Someone asked earlier why T.Ross let the cat out of the bag early…
I’ve been spending WAY TOO much time on the UW blogs and when the news came out there was immediate denial on T.Ross’ part…then a bunch of conflicting news came out. Which leads me to believe that he let the commitment news slip…
In other words, he didn’t want to let anyone know but he told some people that let the word out…
It seems like people are now saying that he is for sure, but nothing official has come out of his own mouth yet.
I might be wrong, but it makes sense with all the other news and the timing of the whole situation…
I hope we get T.Jones too, right now my odds are 95% T.Ross and 55% T.Jones
/
fearthephog25 / April 29, 2010
Please quit crying and showing weakness. You are probably one of our KU fans bashing our own, i.e. Tyshawn Taylor. Man up!
/
PurpleandGoldGlory / April 29, 2010
BTW…
With T.Jones and T.Ross, will anyone on the West Coast even be able to get close to competing against UW???
PG: Venoy, Gaddy off the bench
SG: IT, Ross, Suggs, Wilcox
SF: At 6’6 J. Holiday (best defender in college basketball next year…this guy is shut down no joke), Simmons
F: T.Jones, Gant, Breshers
C: MBA, N’dgye at 7’1
Result: We will run you out of the gym, but if you want to play half court (our weakness and what W.Virginia beat us at last year), we FINALLY now have the size to do it.
Scary, Scary team…of course, it all depends on T.Jones (big if). With him we are a legit Top 5 team, without him we’ll slide to Top 20.
/
PurpleandGoldGlory / April 29, 2010
UW will be in that discussion with T.Jones
/

You said you’ve been to Hec Ed before…did you go during a big game? What did you thing about the crowd noise/ atmosphere compared to other places like Kansas? Are we even on the map?
I’ve been to a ton of games as part of the DawgPac and I know we can get loud and get into the opposition’s head…in fact, many Pac10 coaches have said that it’s the toughest place to play in the PAC. But how does it compare to the national scene?
Would be interesting to know…thanks man!
Wish you guys the best too! You’ll have a solid team with or without Jones…as usual.
/
fearthephog25 / April 29, 2010
Yeah I was at Hec Ed for midnite madness and to get a few pics with Terrence Jones. There was a volleyball game before that against fucla. Even that was off the hook! Then I went to the Big 12 / Pac 10 Challenge and sat in sec 13 above the UW Tunnel. It was crazy and loud, but in terms of size, I would say they need a bigger arena. Not putting The Dawgs down, but they have a long way to go before it gets to KU, UK, DUKE, OR TENNESSEE status. I can say that is much much better than Wazzu though. LOL It was good to see I. Thomas win the slam dunk contest, I was impressed. Very dangerous backcourt! I was able to meet Romar and the team and get a lot of pics with all the players, but mainly I was there lobbying for TJ to go to Kansas. Sorry. lol He is a special player though. On a National level, it is a hard place to play and give it a 8. Very tough for teams to get a win there. And I saw them blow out Wazzu bad. lol

Huh, I didn’t know “long posts = po’d”. I must have missed that English class. As I pointed out (and as you obviously missed), my posts are long because there is just so much material on which to clown you guys with.
Also, I don’t care about “sentence structure” or spelling, just find it both hilarious and ironic when someone tries to point that I am the one that can’t read, yet they are the one with the clear inability to put spell or put together a coherent thought. Again that’s just another thing you missed, which once again brings me back to the hilarity & irony…since you claim I’m the one who fails to recognize things. Too easy. 🙂

No, you presented opinions that seemed like facts to yourself.
FACT: Memphis came within one shot of beating the perceived #1 team of last year, Kansas, with a depleted roster and first time head coach.
FACT: Northern Iowa and Tennessee. Need I say more?
FACT: Memphis has the #1 recruiting class.
FACT: Kansas got the Morris brothers and the Henry brothers because of Cal’s incompetence and greed.
/
fearthephog25 / April 29, 2010
Hey, not my fault cal can’t coach. Who blows a 9 point lead in the final mins. of a Title game? Why didn’t he call a time out or foul? LOL Woulda coulda shoulda huh? Memphis may have the #1 recruiting class, but Jayhawks still taking them down for a third time @ Madison Square Garden on Dec. 7th.
Where was memphis in March, please help refresh my memory? How many times does memphis need to try and beat KU? Its already getting old.
/
tsmooth / April 29, 2010
We’ll see. We’re only losing essentially 1 quality player, while the Jayhawks are losing 3. Glad you can talk shit this early, I can’t wait for Memphis to beat KU. Gonna be real awesome to put you in your place.
Memphis was in the NIT, losing in the 2nd round. Why you ask? Cal left and so did a whole recruiting class, aside from Will Coleman.
Looks like a KU fan is afraid of playing a program from the CUSA. Now, that is funny. LOL

Nobody is skurd of playing anybody from the weak conf usa. haha thats funny, especially after you guys can’t even win your sorry conf. Losing to houston twice! LOL Who does that? Contradiction.
Now, the actual funny part in all of this, was that I did not **mean** that you couldn’t read, but that you don’t understand implied reasoning. This pattern you display is clearly OVERT now. Now, here is something you can take to the bank, get checked out for Borderline Personality Disorder. People with this disease litterally can’t understand anything that is implied and take everything litterally. They also attack people constantly for saying something that is CLEARLY not what they mean. Perhaps a psychiatric check-up is needed.
Other example: “just find it both hilarious and ironic when someone tries to point that I am the one that can’t read, yet they are the one with the clear inability to put spell or put together a coherent thought”
At this point I could also make fun of your lack of TOTAL coherence, but, guess what, I get the main idea. But no, infact you were po’d and you were CLEARLY trying to put someone down, the long post simply help demonstrate how comitted you were. Btw, this is psychology, not English. But I’m not here to make fun of people with Borderline disorder. You need to get help.

Again, you show your utter lack of knowledge for college basketball. Are you aware that Memphis played with only 7 scholarship players? Or that Memphis’ roster prior to this season never had a 10 ppg player? Or that only one starter came back, and 2 recruits came in?
And no, Memphis didn’t get blown out by Gonzaga. It was an 8 point game, and Memphis led with 4 min left by 6. That isn’t a blowout, dipshit.
“Longway to go before becoming a somebody in college basketball” That has to be one of the dumbest statements I have ever seen on here. 5 straight Sweet 16’s, 3 straight Elite Eights, winningest program in a 3 year span, championship game appearance, and still almost make the NIT in a down year. That qualifies as a SOMEBODY in college basketball. Memphis is a top 10 program, you should grow to accept that.
Yea, Elliot coming back would help, you should remember he did torch Kansas, but having Will Barton start in his place isn’t a step down. In fact, it may be a step up.
We’ll see how nobody is scared of Memphis after we beat KU, and show everybody that last year was a one year wonder. Memphis will continue to be an upper echelon program under Pastner.
Accept that, bud

KU lost 85% of scoring and 5 starters off of championship team, and still came back the next season to get to the sweet 16. SAVEW THE DRAMA FOR YOUR MAMMA. CHUMP. LOL
Anybody can have the winningest program in that cheap conference, so don’t act like you didd something good. Do that in the ACC, BIG 12, NIG EAST or BIG 10. Only then would it mean anything son. LOL

Can’t wait to see a vastly improved Memphis team play KU. It’s going to be fun when I get to come back here and talk a bunch of shit after the Tigers win

tsmooth / April 29, 2010
Good info. Having 12 losses over 3 years sound better though. Memphis and Kansas are both recruiting Adonis Thomas. It’s gonna be awesome to see him wear Tiger blue in 2 years
/
tsmooth / April 29, 2010
Hearing something wrong then. I am completely whole, and will continue to be so. Please, try again. Your attempts flatter me
/
tsmooth / April 29, 2010
Again, you fail
/
tsmooth / April 29, 2010
Not really, moron.
Wow, you really are immature.
/
fearthephog25 / April 29, 2010
Ewww!! 3 years, im shaking in my boots. ROFL!! memphis is such a dynasty. LOL
We are deep every year, din’t you guys think you need him more than we do? Not saying he goes to memphis, just saying.
/
fearthephog25 / April 29, 2010
Is the pussy cat trying to roar? LOL
Cat got your tongue? haha
/
tsmooth / April 29, 2010
He’s going to Memphis. Mark that down. KU isn’t a dynasty either. Last dynasty was Florida.
We’ll see how deep y’all will be this year. Memphis certainly will be deep and extremely talented.
If KU doesn’t need him, why are they recruiting him? Enough said.
/
fearthephog25 / April 29, 2010
EXCUSES!!
/
tsmooth / April 29, 2010
Nope. I just choose not to acknowledge your delusions and stupidity
/
tsmooth / April 29, 2010
not really
/
fearthephog25 / April 29, 2010
DONT CRY PLEASE.
/
fearthephog25 / April 29, 2010
Can you say PERRY ELLIS?
GET SOME!! LOL
/
tsmooth / April 29, 2010
I’m not
/
tsmooth / April 29, 2010
They are in different classes. GET SOME!!
His sister plays ball for the Lady Tigers’ basketball team. Memphis is recruiting him as well.
Can you say JARNELL STOKES???? He’s going to be much better than Perry
/
tsmooth / April 29, 2010
Memphis also beat KU for Joe Jackson, a top PG in this year’s class. Hmm…
/
fearthephog25 / April 29, 2010
After KU beats memphis again, they will be well aware of the Jayhawks dominance over the pussy cats. Go see how many top recruits are going be at the Jayhawk Invitational this weekend in Lawrence. Kansas 2 > memphis ZERO!! LOL
/
tsmooth / April 29, 2010
Actually, top recruits will still go to Memphis, as evidenced by Memphis already having a top 30 player for 2011 in Anthony Norris.
Dominance cannot be justified after 2 games. Again, you show your incompetence at logic. By the way, there won’t be an “again” this year
/
fearthephog25 / April 29, 2010
ARE YOU SAYING JACKSON IS BETTER THAN BARTON’S COUSIN JOSH SELBY? LMAO
/
fearthephog25 / April 29, 2010
EWW!! TOP 30 Are you serious? Im so skurd, am I supposed to be impressed?
/
fearthephog25 / April 29, 2010
KANSAS 2 > memphis ZERO!!!
/
fearthephog25 / April 29, 2010
meow meow
/
tsmooth / April 29, 2010
Better pure PG, yes. Better defender, yes. Better attitude, yes. Bigger impact, yes.
/
tsmooth / April 29, 2010
You will be impressed when Memphis continually gets top 5 recruiting classes. Couple Adonis with Anthony, Ky, and WMJ, and that is an elite recruiting class.
Didn’t miss out on numerous top 30 recruits this past year? Interesting…
/
tsmooth / April 29, 2010
kinda lame when that is your only argument
/
tsmooth / April 29, 2010
and you show it yet again
/
fearthephog25 / April 29, 2010
Cant say anything or deny it, can you? How does it feel knowing you will go to sleep tonight, being inferrior. LOL
/
tsmooth / April 29, 2010
Not inferior, and don’t feel inferior in any way.
Obviously I can’t deny it. Those wins happened, but I’m looking forward to the future when Memphis has a coach who is very good with gameplans and scouting, and will have tons of talent at his disposal.
/
fearthephog25 / April 29, 2010
I’d rather play CUSE or MICHIGAN STATE in Jimmy V Classic, that would be a more of a marquee match up. What is memphis doing in such an Elite Classic in MSG? Should of put Duke or Kentucky in your spot.
/
fearthephog25 / April 29, 2010
I like Pastner, but how long will he be at memphis before moving onto bigger and better? He has a bright future for being such a young coach.
/
tsmooth / April 29, 2010
CUSE will be down. Memphis is deserving of the spot you moron.
Do the words #1 recruiting class not resonate with you? Memphis is an elite team, get that through your head.
/
tsmooth / April 29, 2010
Memphis is in the process of locking him down for a while. Going to be similar to what Butler gave Brad Stevens.
/
tsmooth / April 29, 2010
Also, he’s in one of the best jobs in the country. Going to have to offer a lot of money, even though Pastner doesn’t coach for money, and have great boosters/fans. Well guess what, he already has that at Memphis
/
fearthephog25 / April 29, 2010
Young coach, young players. We will see how they mesh, they have yet to prove anything. Remember that.
/
fearthephog25 / April 29, 2010
Coaches look for Prestige Coaching jobs. You know that. If a georgetown, ucla or kentucky opening came up. He wouldn;t consider it? LOL He would be a fool not to. Right?
/
tsmooth / April 29, 2010
This is the same thing I have been telling fans for months, although Pastner did prove a lot this year in regards to his coaching/recruiting ability.
Taking this past year’s Memphis team to 24 wins and a second round berth in the NIT, almost on the verge of a NCAA bid, is very admirable. That’s good coaching. He can develop players as well. Going to be real scary a few years down the line.
/
tsmooth / April 29, 2010
He’d consider it. Never said he wouldn’t. I said he loves it where he’s at now, and it’d take a UCLA, UK, Duke, or UNC to pry him away from Memphis, but I have faith in his words when he says he wants to Memphis’ Boeheim or Coach K.
/
fearthephog25 / April 29, 2010
See smooth, its east to talk decent basketball. I ejoyed the last few comments. Notice I never said KU will blow out memphis? I would rather have you guys be better and get better recruits than uk. LOL I look forward to our Dec. 7 game, should be a good game for everyone in New York.
/
tsmooth / April 29, 2010
It is very easy, and very enjoyable for me as well. Should’ve been this way from the start, you know?
I never said Memphis would blow out KU. I like KU. I’ve been to Phog Allen Fieldhouse. Great atmosphere.
KU and Memphis have had 2 great games in the past 2 years, and I look forward to seeing a 3rd. Hopefully, this can turn into a rivalry series. Will be epic by 2012
/
fearthephog25 / April 29, 2010
Yes it will be very interesting match ups. How long was the contract for? 5 years?
/
blasphemy / April 30, 2010
Ts, I got a room for both of us, we can string us up a fearthep…. Oops, wrong forum.
/
blasphemy / April 30, 2010
You can’t argue with it, you can’t reason with it. You see, fearthephog25…. he’s….. he’s like cancer. It won’t go away, and… it’s pure evil. You see, I’m a cancer survivor myself……….. and just when I thought it would be nice and go away……. it took a cheap shot at me again. I finally had to say, I’m tired of this and KILL it. It won’t play fair, and it will take every cheap shot it can. You see Wendy……. you must KILL Eric Cartman. Whoa! where was I going with that……. your guess is as good as mine.
/
tsmooth / April 30, 2010
They’re looking at 8
/
tsmooth / April 30, 2010
LOL. Wow. That sounds like a joke I heard. A UK fan and a Memphis fan walk into a bar….LOL.
/
jhawk4 / April 30, 2010
Fearthephog- as a fellow jayhawk fan, let me tell you to please tone it down and make ALL your posts like your last few that were actually sensible and good basketball talk. nobody likes the guy who is a dick to everyone else, and you were being “that guy” earlier. I know people hate on KU, and i know its tempting to fight back, but just don’t sink down to their level. Show people how knowledgeable KU bball fans really are. you dont want to be one of those guys that make other people hate KU. keep the bashing down and a lot less anti KU comments will happen.
please, join me, Jayhawk Jake, Woody and others to talk some good college basketball with other fans on here. its much more enjoyable that way
Rock Chalk, my friend

UAWildcat / April 30, 2010
If Sean Miller ever leaves Arizona, and I hope he doesn’t, Pastner would be the next coach at Arizona. Pastner still loves UA and Tucson.
/
Boris / April 30, 2010
Memphis fans are going to be rooting for Arizona, that’s for sure. Go Wildcats!
/
Boris / April 30, 2010
Did a conflict just end well on the internet? Holy crap.
/
ChicagoUK / April 30, 2010
So what are folks hearing on Jones?
Word around UK is “cautious” optimism. Bottom line is that no one knows – in this day and age of electronic comminication, it is a miracle that he has kept his recruitment under such wraps.
Someone from Scouts.com said Ross has told family that he and Jones will not be on the same team. UK and KU fans immediately translate this as good news, LOL.
Mind still says UW, heart says UK.
/
MemphisMo23 / April 30, 2010
Danny Manning does a good job getting these guys ready for NCAA play but those bigs game do not translate well into the league. I believe Cole A. will be different though. UK got mor Pub. than any other school last season and was all over TV, I dont think I saw anybody more which was mainly due to SEC and ESPN being in bed with each other. (Not arguing or jumping on you just saying, I actually like Kansas and have tons of respect for the program)
/
junkyard420 / April 30, 2010
Fear the phog…I was going through your posts and was just shaking my head at the way you were making all of us KU fans look. TSmooth is a good guy on here and keeps it real no matter what team he is talking about. I was getting so PO’d at you and then saw your last post and now feel really good about you. You are actually the kind of KU fan I like…just like myself you will go after anyone who says anything negative about our hawks but when we realize we went too far we apologize and make it right. I’m proud of that. You were beginning to get to Jessie WildCat status in my book. But now you’re up there with Jhawk4 and Tsmooth. As a KU alumni we know we’re good and proud of that(what else we got in Kansas, right?), but we also know are not the end all be all and that’s ok. Love this blog and 99% of the people who comment on it. Rock Chalk!!!
/
jhawk4 / April 30, 2010
I honestly have no idea. Nothing would surprise me at this point with Jones. I think Kentucky needs him most, but he will play wherever he ends up. All 3 schools make alot of sense in his situation. Thats a good position for Jones to be in, He can’t really go wrong with whatever school he picks.
As a KU fan, I would love to have jones, but he is just icing on the cake, we dont really need him to fill a hole (like UK does.) I would love to have him, but I wont be upset if we dont. Selby was a must-get. Jones is gravy in my opinion.
/
MemphisMo23 / April 30, 2010
Cal recruits well and motivates guys to play well together and really strong defensively but its not due to him that get drafted high its all about perception. These guys would have went high in the draft straight out of high school if they could but due to NBA rules they can not. His Coaching and development are still suspect, and thats just real. (No ! I’m not hating on your coach)
D. Rose, Tyreke, Wall, Cousins, Orton (he didnt recruit) D. Wagner, Shawne Williams would have all been high picks and One and Done no matter what school they went to Cal had nothing to do with that except that he managed to land their commitments and they played under him.
Bledsoe is more just riding the momentum of all the other guys, and it is showing is his falling draft stock he needs to go back to school. He was just on a hot team with a bunch of other talented freshman

tsmooth / April 30, 2010
Thought I was coming to Zagsblog, not eHarmony, LOL.
Thanks for the kind words, man.
/
tsmooth / April 30, 2010
Scary, I know right?
/
tsmooth / April 30, 2010
Not offended, my man. I actually enjoyed the discussion.
Should do it again sometime. lol.
/
tsmooth / April 30, 2010
Pastner would be one of the first calls for the Arizona AD to make if/when Miller leaves. Yes, he stills loves Zona, but I’ll think in his heart he’ll remember who gave him his first head coaching gig, and that he’ll have continued and endless support in Memphis. If I remember correctly, either the AD or Lute didn’t bump Pastner to first assistant, so he left for Memphis. Could be wrong though
/
tsmooth / April 30, 2010
LOL. It was witty. Nobody ever said UK fans didn’t have a sense of humor….lmao
/
tsmooth / April 30, 2010
TJones to……….UW. UDub gets both Terrences
Internet feed was horrible. Good luck to TJones. Going to be a great player for
/
tsmooth / April 30, 2010
Coach Romar
/
UAWildcat / April 30, 2010
Actually Olson told Pastner that we would have a better chance of getting a head coaching gig if he worked under another head coach. Plus the weekend Pastner excepted the Memphis Asst. job he was still recruiting for Arizona during the Cactus Classic. Pastner loves Lute. Even if it were Livengood that tried to run Pastner out (which I don’t think was the case) Arizona let him go to UNLV.
/
tsmooth / April 30, 2010
Like I said, I could have been wrong. Everyone knows Pastner loves Tucson and UA, but he also loves Memphis and the Tigers. For now though, Memphis and the area surrounding it has arguably the most talent in America. Any coach would not leave that, unless his “dream job” came along.
Either the AD or O’Neill ran him off. I know that much as fact.
/
UAWildcat / April 30, 2010
Well O’Neil and Livengood are g e and Lute attend ever home game and has contact with the players and coaching staff, I’m not saying he is coaching or advicing just like a Wooden type of thing. Most of UA fans think still think Pastner walks on water (I am not one of them). I do think Pastner was helped out this recruiting season with the wealth of talent this coming out of Memphis.
/
tsmooth / May 1, 2010
Actually, Jelan Kendrick is from Atlanta. The Bartons are from Baltimore. Hippolyte Tsafack is from Virginia, but Cameroon originally.
Only 3 players are from the Memphis area: JJ, Tarik, and CC.
So actually, he had more outside of Memphis than from Memphis.
It’s not helping, either btw. Any decent coach would recognize that if he had a pool of talent around him that he should gather it.
Memphis’ lone recruit for 2011 so far is from Houston, TX. Not Memphis. So in essence, your last statement is false.
He’s pulled in the best players from the 3 best talent markets. That’s not being helped out. That’s being a damn good recruiter.
/
UAWildcat / May 1, 2010
Barton was being recruited by Pastner before Cal left not a big shock he stuck with Pastner since they are the two that had the relationship. I just said that I just said that Pastner was helped by the talent that wascoming out of Memphis this year not sure how that is a false statement when without those 3 recruits Memphis does not have a top ten class? Pastner’s dad still coaches in Houston so not a big surprise there either.
/
tsmooth / May 1, 2010
When I read it, it came across to me that he lucked into the recruits and that Memphis is the sole reason for this recruiting class. Sorry, I jumped the gun. I’ve heard statements similar to your’s previously, so I got a little hot about it. My bad, dude.
As far Barton, he was perceived as a UK lock, but Pastner stole him away.
IMO, it’d still be a top 10 class without JJ, CC, and Tarik, but it’d be like #10. Texas only has 2 players, both 5 stars, and has a top 10 class. Memphis would have two 5 stars, and two 3 stars without the Memphis kids.
Yea, Pastner is using his connections in Houston very well. That’s one of the things I like about his recruiting so much: he has connections everywhere. West Coast, East Coast, Memphis, Texas, South, North, Europe. LOL.
