Michael Gilchrist, the No. 1 junior in the nation out of Elizabeth (N.J.) St. Patrick, will announce his college choice at 5:50 EST Wednesday on ESPNU, according to the network.
The 6-foot-7 Gilchrist has long favored Kentucky and Villanova and will make his verbal commitment as a junior. He cannot sign a Letter of Intent until November.
“Michael loves Villanova,” Cindy Richardson, Gilchrist’s mother, told the Philly Inquirer last summer. “It’s Kentucky, Villanova. Villanova, Kentucky.”
Richardson was not immediately available for comment Tuesday night.

Hoping Ray picks Zona. Its strange he would wait so long to commit to Detroit, but thats just me.
Didnt know Zeigler was commiting tomorrow. Dont see him playing for dad at Central Michigan although could be a possibility. Arizona was recruiting him hard at one point but I have a feeling he will choose MSU and if not UCLA.

Gilchrist to UK.. I have been saying that here for a week now. Knight to UK as well. Selby to KU. Knight to UK probably means CJ Leslie to UK as well per Zag’s previous post.
I think McCallum goes to Detroit… but I am curious if Zona fans think they have a shot? I have not followed his recruiting but it would seem UCLA and Zona would have a chance. I think he has been overlooked… great athlete.
Joseph is probably off to UCONN or Texas. If he is smart, he should go to UCONN and learn under Calhoun, play with Kemba Walker.
For UK, I have already moved on to concerns about T Jones and D Lamb. I really want T Jones but he would be a long shot if CJ signs up. Lamb seems like a (very) slight UK lean. He clearly is not fully sold or he would not be listening to St. Johns.
Should be interesting.

No hate but here are the facts…
1. TWO vacated final 4’s under the watch of Johnny Manchowder Calapari.
2. WWW is “known” to pad the pockets of players and families and has SAT scores ready for student that have issues (see Rose).
3. You can’t win a national championship with all these one and done kids – just look at the UK program last year and that was with Patrick Paterson.
UK may get Gilchrist which would stink for Villanova but I doubt Gilchrist will ever play a game for Cal.
Also Brandon Knight is no John Wall and another Cousins isn’t walking through that door this year.

Unconn is heavily on the decline and wont be ranked next season, they wont make the NCAA tourney while ‘Nova will be a preseason top 10 team.

I guess every college better just shoot for Juco players, now that Cal is at UK, I mean listening to most these boards evryone else may as well hang it up when it comes to recruits..lol, This speculation is getting out of hand, yes UK will bring them in year after year, but so will KU, UNC, Nova, Texas, just to name a few, its getting rediculous to listen to every recruit supposedly be a UK lean. My guess is UK will get Kinight, Ross, Kanter, Poole which is a very impressive class. No way do I see Lamb and Ross at the same school, same goes for Selby and Knight. Sure Wall and Bledsoe played together but dont count on that scenario every year. This is not a bash UK write up its just me saying other schools will get good recruits too people.

What did the #1 class get you this year? Not a final four that probably would have been vacated. I doubt even with a top 3 class the UK will get out the 2nd round next year.

I think McCallum is the best bet to commit to the U of A out of the current undecided guards (Selby, Lamb and McCallum). That being said U of A has about a 20% percent chance on landing McCallum.

Totally fair comment Jake.. I never understand what all this school bashing accomplishes.
I don’t think every top recruit is a UK lean; it is just a coincidence that UK did not sign any players in the Fall (in fact, lost a number of battles such as Tobias Harris, Kyrie Irving, Will Barton etc) and that we just lost so many players to the NBA this month. Thus every remaining top recruit is looking at UK.
The WWW and money allegations are getting old.. I cannot help but think these are envious fans pushing this notion. Cal has signed a bunch of top players but he has lost out on a bunch too. Where was WWW for those guys he lost? Was the money not green for them? If I recall, a bunch of people of this board said Selby was a lock for UK because his mom spoke with WWW right before he de-committed. So is WWW in bed with Bill Self now?
There is no doubt that Calipari, LeBron James (and his marketing company), Leon Rose, and now WWW as a legit agent make a very powerful cartel in American basketball. There is nothing illegal about it.. basketball is a business and a succesful business is based on relationships and strategy.
On to a more lighter note, just saw that Dave Telep said that McCallum is undecided with 5 hours to go. Some hope for Zona fans if they can take a break from their UK introspection..

Chicago UK, check ou tthis article seems to be a unbias look at the remaining recruits. Not saying it is correct but sounds like as good as a guess at this point as I have heard on #5 of the article. To be honest cant wait til saturday when most of this is all over.

Brother, we were in the NIT last year. What Cal did in one year is amazing. You are dang on right I am okay with an Elite 8. We have not been an Elite program in 5 years. Trust me, if Cal fails to get to a Final Four in 4 or 5 years…he will feel some serious heat/ pressure.

Your WWW comments amuse me. Roy Williams has used WWW influence to get players. So has U of Oregon. Lot’s of coaches use his influence, but he just happens to have been friends with Calipari for 20 years.
People always hate the guy from the worng side of the tracks. But now he hit the lottery, has a big time program to run, and is cleaning everyone’s clock in recruiting. Jealousy brings out the true haters and you are standing near the front of the line.
