Hill, Rosario Out the Door at Rutgers

Fred Hill is on his way out the door at Rutgers, and prized recruit Mike Rosario is not far behind.

As of late Thursday night, Rutgers was trying to work out a settlement package with Hill, who will leave the school under a cloud after unleashing a profanity-laced tirade at a Pittsburgh-Rutgers baseball game April 1 and then defying athletic director Tim Pernetti’s orders to stay away from future games. Hill attended the April 3 game between the two teams, reportedly watching from his car until Pernetti saw him.

The Star-Ledger and Gannett New Jersey both reported Thursday night that Hill turned down a $600,000 settlement offer that would allow him to “resign” and that negotiations could drag on for at least another day. Hill is owed $1.8 million on the remainder of his contract.
