
As of late Thursday night, Rutgers was trying to work out a settlement package with Hill, who will leave the school under a cloud after unleashing a profanity-laced tirade at a Pittsburgh-Rutgers baseball game April 1 and then defying athletic director Tim Pernetti’s orders to stay away from future games. Hill attended the April 3 game between the two teams, reportedly watching from his car until Pernetti saw him.
The Star-Ledger and Gannett New Jersey both reported Thursday night that Hill turned down a $600,000 settlement offer that would allow him to “resign” and that negotiations could drag on for at least another day. Hill is owed $1.8 million on the remainder of his contract.
