Jersey Boys Face off in National Semis; Boeheim Wins AP Coach of the Year Award

INDIANAPOLIS — For three years in a row during his high school years in New Jersey, Wellington Smith came up short in state championship games.

And all three times he lost to future Duke Blue Devils.

The 6-foot-7 Smith, a senior forward at West Virginia who starred at Summit (N.J.) High School, lost to Brian Zoubek and Haddonfield twice in the Group 2 state final in 2004 and ’05.
